Dr. Frederick Chong is the author of more than 10 papers in Engineering and Science Journals from his Research at UMIST and 6 papers in Steel Making Journal from his works at Sabah Gas Industries, one of which won him an award in the 1988. He is also a recipient of the British Gas Research grant during his work at UMIST. He is currently the CEO of Pacific Merchants Group of Companies, a mining commodity trading company. 1983, started as a process engineer with Sabah Gas Industry and rose through the ranks as Marketing, Production and Plant Manager and as Senior Manager when the company was privatized to the Lion Group in 1992. In 1993, he joined Cash Bhd, PIH Bhd Group of companies as its Group GM, with interest in marble quarries, dimension stones and contract manufacturing. 1998, he co-founded KKIP Power Sdn Bhd, which manage the power supply, distribution and billing at the Industrial Park before leaving and founded the Pacific Merchant Group of Companies.
