Upon graduating, he was attached to the Audit and Business Advisory Services Division in PricewaterhouseCoopers in London and Hong Kong, specialising in banking and capital markets. In 2002, he took up the position of Chief Financial Officer in Penerbangan Malaysia Berhad, and was subsequently appointed its Managing Director/Chief Executive Officer in 2004. He was first appointed to the Board of Malaysia Airlines on 23 August 2004, subsequently as Executive Director on 23 August 2005 and Chief Financial Officer on 1 February 2006. He served as Managing Director/Chief Executive Officer of Malaysia Airlines, a position he held from 28 August 2009 until todate.
