calvintaneng, I read JTIASA annual report just now. The FFB yield was 12.5 mT/ha, I think it was too low for a plantation of average 6-7 years old trees. Please find out the possible causes, I feel reluctant to spend my time on it as I am not interested in smaller plantation companies.

GENTING-WA is a better alternative, fair value is RM1.75 if the mother share price is currently fair.

Draw a chart of its NAV or Price against KLCI is indeed misleading because the KLCI's dividend yield is conveniently forgotten, it is simply an unfair comparison.

yungshen1, The fair value of call and put warrants very much depend on the input to the calculation, so I wish to get your opinion on FBMKLCI future movement, can you tell me your estimate/predict on FBMKLCI level (i.e. at how many points?) one year from now. For my calculation, I used 6.29%, meaning that if I buy all the index counters, I expect to get return of 6.29% (price appreciation plus dividend).

The premium of a warrant reveals by how many percent the underlying asset has to change for warrant holders to breakeven assuming that the warrant is held till maturity. This is the time value of the warrant in percentage terms and may be considered as the cost for the l benefit of the warrant. Let’s take an example of a warrant on stock X which has an exercise price of $10, conversion ratio of 10 warrants per share, and a value of $0.15. Assuming stock X is now trading at $11, the warrant has an intrinsic value of ($11 - $10) / 10 warrants per share = $0.10. Therefore, for an investor holding till maturity, the warrant need to rise $0.15 - $0.10 = $0.05 in order to breakeven at expiry. This translates into a $0.50 / $11 = 4.5% rise in the underlying or, in other words, a 4.5% premium.

Instead of Margin, we can turn to company warrants and structured warrants. For example, Buy GENTING-WA is kind of buy GENTING with loan and the interest rate is only 4.1% only, Buy FBMKLCI-C4 is kind of buy whole basket of blue chip and the interest rate is 6.7%. The beauty is no margin call and no need to be responsible for any further losses beyond the warrants purchase money.

kcchongnz, I dun encourage people to use margin. But if they can handle and insist to use margin, I just wanted to point out that it is better to use shares instead of FD to get margin facility. And the other better alternative to get leverage is to trade call warrants instead of margin. For example, to buy FBMKLCI-CR at RM0.15 at yesterday closing, it is equivalent to get financing to buy a basket of blue chips at an interest rate of 6.1% per year, the "interest" is actually the premium and loss of dividend, the beauty is if market crash, the call warrant holders are not required to be responsible beyond the amount that already paid.

Instead of using 100K FD to get 250K margin, He should use that 100K cash to buy shares first, then use these shares to apply for 150K margin. Now his anticipated return would be (100K*0.06+150K*(0.06-0.0485))/100K=7.725%.

Look at the quarterly report, out of RM3010m borrowings, only 17.5% or RM529m(USD200m) is in USD. Let say RM/USD weakening from 3.20 to 3.60, the loss in currency exchange is only 200m*RM0.40=RM80m or RM0.025 per share.

I am happy with the quarterly EPS of 8.65 sen, or 3.14 sen if exclude the one off revaluation gain of 5.51 sen. The 5.51 sen gain from the revaluation of investment property will or will not help in increasing the rental income? Any comment from you people?

dapbohong, please refer to the above and understand the following paragragh:

“This is because the EPF only declares dividends on our realised income. We do not recognise unrealised income,” he said. This means that the EPF only regards as income on investments that it has liquidated and not based on revaluation or mark-to-market gains.

What worry me is how much unrealized profit or loss in EPF, why cant EPF just tell us the NAV per every one ringgit of our money? Is it more than RM1.00 or less than that?

Also please dun confuse people with "guarantee 6-7% annual dividend". In reality, EPF guarantee only 2.5%.

luiluilui, The minister said no more cooling measure for property in 2015. The reason given is 70% of Malaysian have properties and they dont like property price going down, versus only 30% of Malaysian dont own property and wish to see property price down. So government choose to be with the 70%.

Please also understand this, almost every housing project is unique, you cant compare a particular project with others, so it is quite easy for directors/managers if they want to swindle money, for example via various sub-contracts, small shareholders cant really do much or question them. That is why many property counters are cheap in term of PE, and forever remain cheap.

Stock

2015-01-28 08:46 | Report Abuse

I dun think 101 tower is an important factor, to me the more important thing is the profit margin. Another important thing to me is the company is big and owned/managed by the super rich family, chance that they swindle money from the company is much lower compare with those small companies or those big companies but not managed by the major shareholder, you know people are evil, right? So we feel safer with IOIPG, that is why IOIPG should worth at a higher PE.

It is a very good company, cheap at the moment, you can buy and hold it for years, but of course I dun know when is the exact right time to go in. May be it will be even cheaper when the new right issue shares come into the market. You can wait or you can go in now, who know?

Stock

It is a very good company and well managed. Its Profit Margin is the highest among all the property developers, which means if the property market soften, IOIPG would be least affected compare to other developers. And with Singapore Dollar and Chinese Renminbi strengthening against Ringgit, the coming quarterly result should be a good one.
