I don't know your real situation but selling at this low price just doesn't make sense to me. You only sell when the price is right. Is the price right for you? Always remember that in investing, there is such thing call rebound and it has happened time and again. Maybe not now but it definitely will.
Buying high and selling low is the worst strategy to employ. More so if you have the holding power. If you play margin, then that is a different case.
Do your due diligence. The Fundamental Analysis by LC Chong makes good reading
Don't sell just because X, Y and Z say so or because the market sentiment is bad.
Sell because the fundamentals has eroded.
Don't give in to emotional investing. It is a sure way to lose money.
At current price, the valuation is indeed very attractive. In fact, have you ever thought of buying more to average down?
I know it might sound crazy to you but sometimes it pays to be a contrarian and it pays big!!!

With the support of Petronas and Epf, local boy SKP will weather this tough period and comes out stronger and better despite what the doomsayers are predicting. God willing!

Mokhzani is a major shareholder both at skpetro and rival OnG company, Yinson. He could resign from skpetro directorship because of conflict of interest. But this is only a guess.

Yes, the news was dated to December 19 last year. But it said here that it makes up only about 7% of SKP's FY16 expected earnings. Or am I missing something?

"Most of the group’s assets are tied up for the long term and contributions from the Petrobras contracts will pick up in FY16 to make up 7% of group earnings,” said AllianceDBS.

Ever since Sapuracrest merged with Kencana Petroleum, SKPetro has never had a bad quarter. It is always trending up.
See http://www.malaysiastock.biz/Corporate-Infomation.aspx?type=A&value=S&securityCode=5218
How to compare with Mas?
2015-03-08 23:18 | Report Abuse
Muscle, the price has already dropped. You have already lost a large some of money. Selling will incur additional cost. So does buying. What if the price of the new counter dropped again. Are you going to sell and buy another counter? I don't have so much money to lose wor!

No one knows whether it will drop tomorrow morning or not. If drop, so what? It is not the end of the world. It once dropped to RM2.02 but then rebounded to RM3. This is pretty normal in the investment world. If the fundamental is intact, the more it drops, the more attractive it becomes. Then there will be buying pressure to push it up. The market is self-correcting. Sometimes the best thing to do is do nothing. But this is only my 2cent worth!

I think you should stop soliciting advice from your fellow forummers here. You don't know who they are and what qualification they have. Some just bantai only and you want to accept their opinions as the gospel truths?

Limchiew67, may i suggest that u take a serious look at unit trust investment in the future. No need to sufferr like this ever. Invest in goodwh funds like kenanga growth fund. Try using the fundsupemart where the sales charges is only1-2%. The total return averages 20% and recentl it gave9.48% dividend.

Is this a good strategy to try as my oil and gas shares' price continues to slide - sell the shares that I am holding (bought at a higher price) and buy them back later at a lower price? Opinion and advice please! Thank you.

Nobody can time the market. No need to agonize if the price has hit the rock bottom or not.
I think the more important thing is to make sure you are part of the recovery. If you think you are satisfied with the price, buy it.
I am afraid if you will wait for the perfect price, it might never come and you will miss the rebound.
Never mind if you did not get the lowest price. There will always be another day to make big money from the market.

Soon enough there will be a breaking point. Some parties will have to give in or give up when the pain becomes unbearable. Some form of effective actions will be taken eventually to address this problem.

I think if Mokhzani and his fellow director can buy millions of shares around 2.50, I am quite confident that SKP price is very near its bottom, even if the price of crude oil is not.

Can buy some and keep so as not to miss out on the recovery, I think the price is attractive enough. Make the purchase staggered. Always keep some bullets in case of further correction.
If we were to buy on the uptrend, I am afraid we might miss the boat because the rebound is usually speedy and violent. Like they say, "fly" and before you know it, it will be too late to chase.

Be more optimistic! What goes up must come down and vice versa. Our world population is growing. Demand is bound to increase some day. Oil price will not remain low forever. Remember it fell to $34 a barrel in 2009. Buy and hold. Those who persevere will be rewarded. Those who quit will look back with regret, rueing the missed opportunities.

If the management is good, it will rebound. Hopefully they are doing something about it. Being the nation premier bank, I am sure they are taking some corrective measures to arrest the situation.
