On Oct 6, AAX announced a proposed debt restructuring scheme to reconstitute the RM63.5 billion debt into a principal amount of RM200 million, which is payable annually over a period of up to five years.
KUALA LUMPUR: AirAsia X Bhd’s (AAX) net loss widened to RM308.46 million in the third quarter ended Sept 30,2020, from RM229.89 million in the same quarter last year.
The closure of international borders following the COVID-19 pandemic dragged the long-haul carrier’s revenue down by 94 per cent to RM59.91 million during the quarter under review from RM1.01 billion previously.
For the cumulative nine-month period, AAX’s net loss ballooned to RM1.16 billion against RM393.67 million while revenue shrank to RM1.08 billion from RM3.20 billion previously, the airline said in a filing with Bursa Malaysia today.
On Oct 6, AAX announced a proposed debt restructuring scheme to reconstitute the RM63.5 billion debt into a principal amount of RM200 million, which is payable annually over a period of up to five years.
"The implementation of the scheme is ongoing and its success is critical to the ability of the company to raise new funding, either as debt or equity, and to continue as a going concern, ” it added.
In a separate filing today, Mercury Securities Sdn Bhd, on behalf of the airline’s board, announced that Bursa Malaysia Securities had, vide its letter dated today, resolved to grant AAX an extension of time until Jan 6,2021, to submit the application for the proposed share consolidation and the draft circular to the AAX shareholders in relation to the proposals.
Under its planned corporate restructuring, AAX has proposed a consolidation of every 10 existing ordinary shares in AAX into one AAX share. - Bernama

KUALA LUMPUR (Nov 19): As businesses accelerate their migration to digital technologies, driven by the Covid-19 pandemic, they need to ensure the process continues during the recovery and post-pandemic periods, Malaysia Digital Economy Corporation (MDEC) chief executive officer Surina Shukri said.
She said the digital transformation wave is still under way in many industries, both in Malaysia and the Asia-Pacific region, especially among the small and medium enterprises (SMEs) where they are focusing on the digitalisation of products, services and business processes.
While doing so, businesses also need to start adopting the Fourth Industrial Revolution (IR4.0) technologies, she said at a spotlight session entitled “APEC’s Artificial Intelligence (AI) Opportunity”, in conjunction with APEC CEO Dialogues 2020 today.
"Businesses should leverage the use of technology and embrace the new normal to thrive in the era of IR4.0,” she said.
Moving forward, the next focus is on how to utilise AI to improve the quality of decision-making, optimise organisational efficiencies and build closer relationships with customers, she said.
Surina also urged APEC economies to upgrade their digital infrastructure and ensure their people benefit from it.
Meanwhile, in its latest report, the APEC Policy Support Unit encouraged APEC economies to allocate the resources needed to build more reliable technological infrastructure and bridge the digital divide.
The report said that ensuring access to reskilling and upskilling opportunities will enable more people to participate in the economy and re-ignite innovation that will bring higher productivity and greater economic output.

AirAsia X sinks deeper into the red in 3Q as revenue takes a nosedive amid travel restrictions.
2020-11-19 20:03 | Report Abuse
KUALA LUMPUR (Nov 19): No frills long-haul carrier AirAsia X Bhd (AAX) sank deeper into the red in its third financial quarter ended Sept 30, 2020 (3QFY20), with net loss expanding to RM308.46 million from RM305.24 million in the immediate preceding quarter, amid the continued slump in air travel demand as the Covid-19 pandemic persists.
Group revenue weakened further to RM59.91 million from RM91.44 million in 2QFY20. On a year-on-year basis, revenue was down 94% from 3QFY19's RM1.01 billion, when the group recorded a net loss of RM229.89 million.
It recorded a loss per share (LPS) of 7.4 sen for 3QFY20, versus 5.5 sen in 3QFY19.
Besides the decimated revenue, the airline saw its finance cost rise to RM97.28 million from RM78.1 million in 3QFY19, on higher interest expense on lease liabilities and the impact of discounting effects on financial instruments.
For the nine months ended Sept 30, 2020 (9MFY20), AAX's net loss widened to RM1.16 billion, about three times the RM393.67 million it recorded in the corresponding nine months last year as revenue sank 66% to RM1.08 billion from RM3.2 billion. Cumulative LPS for 9MFY20 came in at 28 sen from 9.5 sen in 9MFY19.
On prospects, the group pointed to the debt restructuring scheme it proposed in October and emphasised that the successful implementation of the scheme is critical for it to be able to raise new funding via either debt or equity, and to continue as a going concern.
Under the debt restructuring scheme, the airline proposes that the total outstanding amounts owed to the scheme creditors be restructured and reconstituted into an acknowledgement of indebtedness by AAX for a principal amount of up to RM200 million, payable annually over a period of up to five years, via three equal payments from the 3rd to the 5th year of the scheme's implementation, it said.
AAX shares finished 7.14% or half a sen lower at 6.5 sen today, giving the group a market value of RM269.63 million. It saw 16.77 million shares transacted.

Is social e-commerce in China overrated? well, the market is already worth US$ 300 billion, yet it seems we’ve just scratched the surface.
Most Chinese social media apps have already integrated the sales process. Here are a few prominent ones:
✅ Douyin has had its in-app store since 2018, where users can instantly buy products.
✅ Kuaishou employs the same concept while serving lower tier cities.
✅ RED and Mogujie focus on beautiful pictures and are teaming with influencers to drive traffic.
✅ Pingduoduo now has 568 million monthly active users as of Q2. Group-buying is also social commerce. The platforms offer prices that get increasingly discounted the more items a group purchases.
✅ Big e-commerce giants are also on board. JD launched Jingxi group-selling app in 2019, while Alibaba has its Juhuasuan.
What’s your take?

calvintaneng Very good morning all at Netx forum
Yesterday Netx shot up to 24 sen and closed at 14 sen in huge volume.
Later it was revealed that Director Yong was selling a big portion of his shares
It seemed quite confusing and many are wondering why?
Let Calvin give an explanation
I have been holding Netx for quite a long time already
But not as long as Asiabio/Fintec which first bought Netx at 7 sen in year 2015. In year 2017 Fintec took up the Rights issue of Netx at 5 year
So we can assume that Fintec/Asiabio cost is 5 sen
Capital exercise was 25 to 1 Netx and Rights was given at 13 sen
So Fintec real cost is
5 x 25 or Rm1.25
Director Yong after paring down still hold 18 million Netx shares
Fintec is still holding Netx at Rm1.25
These are facts
We look at facts and figures over the emotions of men
As long as Fintec still Top holders just hold
Fintec also Top holder of Xox, Focus Dynamic, Gpa, Mlab, Vsolar and AT
Fintec has sold Gpa and AT but so far holding every share of Netx since year 2015
Focus Lumber gone up from 15 sen to over Rm2.00
Xox from 1 sen to the high of 30 sen
AT just gone up as well and now weakened
Calvin bought none of them
I only have Netx because of its Vision and Mission statement
Netx is still a disruptive Tech of the future just like Google, amazon, Alibaba, tesla , beyond meat and Facebook and Netflix
So give Netx time
Don't listen to naysayers
If you believe just buy and hold
If not then go buy Fgv, Jtiasa, Bplant , Wtk, Tdm, Chinteck, Hs plant, Mhc or any other plantation stocks you fancy
Regards
Calvin
