Vessel detained with 123,479 litres of subsidised diesel

KOTA TINGGI: The state Domestic Trade, Co-operative and Consumerism department (KPDNKK) has detained a vessel caught with 123,479 litres of subsidised diesel near Tanjung Belungkor here.

State KPDNKK Deputy head enforcement officer V. Ravichandran said that the vessel was spotted at around 12am on June 23.

"We also nabbed six Indonesian men aged between 30 and 40 who were on board the vessel," he said during a press conference held at the Tanjung Belungkor jetty Wednesday.

V. Ravichandran added that the fuel alone cost about RM246,958 and the diesel together with the ship totalled RM746,958.

"We believe that the vessel was illegally supplying diesel to other vessels using the path and are investigating the matter under Section 20 (1) of the Controlled Supply Act 1961.

KUALA LUMPUR (June 13): RHB Research has upgraded Malaysian Airline System Bhd (MAS) to a Neutral (from Sell) at 20 sen with an unchanged fair value (FV) of 19 sen and said it believed the best case for MAS was to maintain its listed status and undergo a restructuring exercise to boost yields and improve productivity, while trimming its sizeable workforce.


In a note Friday, the research house said with news reports hinting of an imminent restructuring and an emphasis on productivity, this bodes well for the airline in the long term.

“We upgrade the stock to Neutral, with an unchanged FV of 19 sen,” it said.
