Brenda Smith of US CBPtrade retires today.
Same day she issued a finding on convict labour, etc. on gloves & TG.
I wonder what's the issue here?
Certainly, it has nothing to do with forced labour.
I work and live in Malaysia...
I would know if there's forced labour in Malaysian factories & plantations or not.

Someone suggested that we vaccinate the MPs first as they are the frontliners in an Election campaign and also they need to meet their constituents frequently?

or Maybe we should also vaccinate the Malaysian top labour officials as frontliners as they will be soon checking the infected dormitories of foreign workers, even before the workers are tested ?

Details on Moderna’s vaccine:
The experimental vaccine, called mRNA-1273, is based on messenger RNA (mRNA) technology, which relies on synthetic genes that can be generated and manufactured in weeks, and produced at scale more rapidly than conventional vaccines. Pfizer’s vaccine also uses mRNA technology.

Do Singapore penalise the employers on foreign workers dorms?
Do South Korea sue the Christian churches for spreading Covid?
There is no statistical correlation between high covid cases and people living below minimal standards of housing.
Hong Kong people living in VERY close quarters... do they have high incidence of covid cases?
USA and Europe has the highest numbers of covid incidence.... Do they have poor standards of housing?

This is a COVID-19 pandemic... and it spread by the first infection, then close contact and communal lifestyle.

Covid infection is NOT related to standards of housing.

It is well known that Covid incidence is highly prevalent for those whose lifestyle is communal living or those who socialise in close quarters like in navy ships, cruise liners, tabligh & Church clusters or living in dormitories.

Singapore had its 1000s covid cases in a day all from foreign workers dormitories many months ago. Malaysia had COVID cases from tahfiz dormitories too.

Do Singapore penalise the employers on foreign workers dorms?

Do South Korea sue the Christian churches for spreading Covid?

https://www.independent.co.uk/travel/news-and-advice/covid-quarantine-test-holidays-travel-b1760717.html

Why quarantine foreign workers who tested negative another 14 days? Just do more tests if you are not sure. Quarantine workers, closing shops and stopping factories for 2 weeks are like pressing brakes all the time on the recovery of the Economy.

When you do not have enough test kits, then you can quarantine for 14 days for observations. These days we have plenty of test kits, just not enough clear thinking .....

I read that TG's factory workers housing in Tasek, Ipoh does not meet the requirements of Minimum Standards of Workers' Housing & Amenities Act, according to the Labour Dept ? Even though they lived in double storey link houses with Astro dish in every unit ?
In Hong Kong's low cost housing of 300 ft2 apartment, the average is 100 ft2 per person.
A double-storey link house in Tasek is about 2000 ft sq, so a max of 20 people can stay in.

Have the Labour Dept made a comparison study of foreign workers housing requirements & standards in all the different industries like the plantation, construction and factory workers?

If you are not ready, do not open up the can of worms of foreign workers' minimum standards of housing, working conditions, health, safety & Insurance, basic wages, contractual obligations, etc....

Hong Kong has yet to solve its minimum housing requirements for it own citizens....

Dear DickyMe,

Each time I read the I3 forum on Topglov, without fail I see you posting RM4 is coming.
I feel sorry for you and not sure whether you need to attend some counselling sessions.

But you seem to be of sound mind from your other posts. Perhaps, it's just a minor case of split personality syndrome. On the other hand, you may be begging for the shr price to drop to RM4.
If you're begging, I'm willing to contribute RM4 to you... I'm sure others in the I3 forum feeling sorry may also RM4. With this crowdfunding, we may be able to get you some RM5000 or more for you to buy some glove shrs like ruberex, comfort, carepls or mahsing.

So, would be kind enough to post your name & bank account so that we can put you in a positive state of mind to share in the glove venture.....

UK introduced the Modern Slavery Act in 2015, followed by Australia in 2018 ....

Perhaps, Malaysia & Thailand can consider introducing the Modern Extortion Act to prevent bloggers exploiting the migrant workers situation?

The migrant workers exploitation started in 1900's when the British first 'moved' (not trafficked) migrant Indians/Chinese to work in rubber plantations and tin mines when tin was discovered in 1870. It was to improve the country's Economy and increase productive employment.

He has been highlighted by Topglov Chairman as the saboteur. He has several court cases with Thailand's National Fruit company in the past on migrant labour issues and is considered Persona Non Grata in Thailand.

Recently, he has tweeted about a Malaysian beating up a Nepalese security guard without checking that the beater is the Nepalese supervisor. He hasn't got the facts on the ground but tend to write or tweet online of migrant labour abuse. see tweet https://twitter.com/Atomicalandy/status/1288999377873203200

Some major shareholders do trade in the stock in the past months - I wonder how frequent they can trade before you can consider it as irregular. Certainly if you are inside the company, you will always have the advantage and the privilege..........unless a code of ethics is drawn out for directors, ex-directors & senior Management. For a start, an advance notice of 2-3 months should be mandatory if any director wish to up their stake or draw down their shareholdings.

Worldwide, demand for palm oil continues to rise. India uses the most, 17 percent of the global total, followed by Indonesia, the EU, and China. The United States currently ranks eighth. In 2018 global consumption is expected to reach 65 million tonnes, or roughly 9 kilograms of palm oil per person.

CS, I guess you like cars for poorer people. I like palm oil as it feeds cars and poorer people.

The growth industry is no longer the auto industry whether it's in Malaysia, EU or China.

The next growth story is coming from India.
The top 10 fastest growing cities in the world for 2019-2035 are in India ... https://economictimes.indiatimes.com/news/economy/indicators/india-claims-top-ten-in-list-of-worlds-fastest-growing-cities/articleshow/66963987.cms

India's annual consumption of palm oil has increased from 5.7 M t in 2009 to 10.6 M t in 2018.
Also, India relies on imports for 60-70% of its edible oil consumption.
Import duty for refined palm oil in India is currently 45% compared to 54% earlier and this may reduce further as it will benefit India's consumers.

Urbanisation of farmers to Indian cities has translated to GDP growth and this will accelerate increase in employment and consumption.

Indonesian year-end stocks are seen plummeting by 6% to 3.650 million tons in December to the lowest in 9 months in response to lower production and unchanged domestic consumption in the country, according to median estimate from Bloomberg survey of analysts, refiners and plantation executives. Production is estimated to have fallen 7% to 3.870 million tons, also the lowest in 9 months and dipping below the 4 million ton mark for the first time in 6 months.
