I reiterate ....Watch SMIC and its shr price!
When you get it right, it will take off!

https://www.tradingview.com/symbols/HKEX-981/

Silterra was built during the era of Malaysia development of BOT model (Build-Operate-Transfer) model like it was done for the PLUS & other highways, LRT/MRT trains, etc. Silterra need to do a 'reverse BOT' and operate as a contract manufacturer.

Must follow the SMIC 'Reverse BOT model' where Kulim or Penang can be hub for High-Tech eco-system. It is imperative that a high-tech cluster is be created in the municipality of a wafer foundry to be successful and operate like a contract manufacturer, so that it can build scale without necessarily confronting immediate large scale outlays. This can sharply lowering its capital costs. This model can give SilTerra a unique level of flexibility in an industry where capital costs were the major driver of product costs. Just my 2 sen.

To monitor SilTerra performance, SMIC would be a better indicator than TSMC, Samsung or UMC.
Two-thirds of SMIC's total wafer production are 200mm, only one-third is 300mm.

SMIC focused on Leading Edge nodes while TSMC & Samsung on Advanced nodes. Advanced nodes are capital-intensive and need GigaFabs to drive costs down.

SMIC's 300mm projects have been a mixed bag with the unprofitable ones sold. SMIC is increasing its 200mm fabs as demand are growing in the coming years, albeit 200mm fab equipment is hard to find. SMIC, like SilTerra has been unprofitable for many years. The tide has turned and these 200mm foundries are starting to max out in their capacities starting January 2021....

Watch SMIC !

Uncle Koon, Sinopharm and Sinovac(aka coronavac) are 2 separate vaccines produced from inactivated virus developed by China.

CNPGC is the China state-owned company that produces Sinopharm.
Sinovac Biotech Ltd is Beijing based Biotech company listed in Nasdaq that produces Sinovac.

Since Malaysia will soon allow the commercial sale of covid-19 vaccines manufactured by Sinopharm and Sinovac to ramp up inoculation rates, companies like DuoPharma and Kanger(for Sabah), etc. may be approved for vaccine sales.
It is likely Pharmaniaga will cease Sinovac supply to govt's PPVs after the free 12 M doses used up and it can resume selling commercially like the others.

It is also likely that for your future booster dose of vaccine after 1 Sep 2021, the public has to pay for the vaccination through the commercial clinics.

KYY is right on the purchase Sinovac vaccine for faster rollout of vaccination to Malaysians.

Chile and Malaysia are in quite similar dire situation where daily covid cases spike to 6000-8000 cases a day (Chile in Apr-Jun, Malaysia in May-Jul).
Since end of June, Chile's new cases have dropped below 3000 per day.

Questions were asked on Chile's success on vacccinating so many people?

Answer : One is the storage method, undoubtedly. Pfizer requires storage in super cold units that keep at -70 degrees, which in Chile we do not have. Chile’s territory also brings limitations – it is a very long country. Sinovac’s vaccine requires very simple storage mechanisms from 2 to 8 degrees Celsius, helping it be dispatched across the country without a problem.
Two, Sinovac is readily available and all vaccines are on Phase 3 trials and for Emergency Use. The objective is to save lives and not to select vaccines for travel purposes for those going to the East or to the West. There will be more booster doses every year to improves efficacy against variants.

I like what KYY writes.... simply correct about Sinovac, women and pineapple, but sometimes wayoff on Jaks, Hengyuan, Dayang, Supermax, margin trading, etc.

What are Dnex Plans?
Foxconn has bot 5% or shrs from shareholders of Dnex, not from PP that could be 20% cheaper.... What's the catch?

Can this happen?...Foxconn will increase its shareholding to 25% by buying from the retail market or from Arcadia Acres.

Then, Foxconn as majority shareholder can propose in EGM for the private placements to be in tranches as when needed in SilTerra capex. Meanwhile, Dnex can raise funds from divestment like selling NSW/IT(to Censof?),sell Bangladesh power plant, sell Subsea cabling business, etc.
Also, Ping Petroleum is ripe for divestment to Hibiscus or Arcadia Acres? Arcadia Acres can pay for Ping with Dnex shrs. Foxconn then buy over the Arcadia's Dnex shrs (20%). This can be done in 2nd half of 2021 when Brent oil hits US$ 80/bbl.

After disposal of these side businesses, Dnex can now focus on its core business *Silterra* and any new downstream businesses like OSAT (Outsourced semiconductor Assembly & Test), etc..

Foxconn can come in to add value with its efficient contract manufacturing, delivery ecosystems and as a captive buyer of automotive semiconductors....

This strategic partnership will position Malaysia higher up in the value semiconductor supply chain. This can eventually be a US$1 billion business for Dnex & SilTerra.... with no other distractions

Silterra's profitability has been confirmed by TunM in 2019 when he mooted for Silterra to fund the 3rd car project.

While we are still considering the car project for some 3 yrs,.... Today, Foxconn has teamed up with Thailand PTT PCL to make an electric car open platform (MIH) for Asia.

If we had listen to some tips from the country's Old Men, Malaysia's Proton would now have Geely, Foxconn & Silterra jointly producing the cheapest electric vehicles in the the market.

Imagine another World's Best (adding to the likes of gloves, palm oil & durians) of the electric car made in Malaysia with semiconductor chips also made in Malaysia.

Why SilTerra is a value buy?

To set up a 200mm wafer foundry now cost minimum USD $1 B. and to set up a 300mm foundry about USD 2-3 B. There are not many 200mm wafer foundries in the world - one in US, one in Japan, one in Taiwan, 3 coming up in China... as many chipmakers migrated to 300mm....

Covid-19 pandemic is a driving force behind current chip shortages. Increased consumer device sales driven by work-from-home trends, supply chain disruptions left chipmakers struggling to respond to a growing global imbalance in the semiconductor industry.

Analog chips, display drivers, power management ICs and RF devices are produced in 200mm (8-inch) fabs — not the 300mm (12-inch) fabs used for cutting-edge chips.

High barriers to entry and long lead times (18 mths) to set up a 200mm wafer foundry. OEMs are also looking for legacy machines, some 20 to 25 years old, in order to remanufacture them to support smaller wafers. In short, all of the sudden, vintage equipment is a hot commodity.

SilTerra is valued at more than USD 260M. yet DneX got it for Ringgit 263 M from Khazanah.
(Fab 3E in Singapore was sold to Taiwan’s Vanguard International Semiconductor (VIS) Corp in 2019 for US$236mil. Fab 3E produces 200mm wafers, like SilTerra. It has a production capacity of 35,000 wafers per month as compared to Silterra’s 46,000 per month.) Go make your valuations.

Going fwd bodes well for Dnex and SilTerra....likely more than RM 260 M (60% SilTerra) in extra revenue a year for Dnex. Brent oil price is already USD 10/bbl more than previous qtr so can expect more revenue from Ping Petroleum.

Foxconn is interested in snapping up an 8-inch wafer fab owned by SilTerra Malaysia. That facility utilizes CMOS processes to fabricate analog and mixed-signal, high voltage, logic, and radio frequency components. Foxconn initially expressed interest in bringing the complex under its umbrella last December, but lost the bid. Silterra has to be in Malaysian hands....

Why Foxconn Wants Fabs That Use Older Manufacturing Technologies???

The corporation is not looking to establish chip factories with the capability to make leading-edge products. Instead, it wants facilities that can fabricate 200nm and 300nm silicon commonly used to make automotive electronic parts. Having an ample supply of those components on hand will be crucial to its EV project succeeding.

Foxconn recent efforts indicate it wants to control its supply chain to win the business of leading automakers. Since the global semiconductor shortage has severely disrupted several major industries, its strategy is prudent.

Foxconn In Talks to Buy Stake in Silterra. Foxconn or Hon Hai Precision Industry Co., has been growing its footprint in electric vehicles... it does not matter whether it takes a stake or not. Taking a stake is to just ensure supply of semiconductor chips.

DneX partner in Silterra, Beijing CGP is the major investor at 40%. CGP is a venture capital and private equity firm focusing on investing in semiconductor industries around the world, on behalf of the municipal government of Beijing.

Semiconductor companies with CGP as a shareholder include SMIC, China’s answer to Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Corp (TSMC), the world’s largest chip fabricator.

Besides SMIC, CGP has investments in a plethora of other companies that form an ecosystem of semiconductor industry players. With SilTerra now part of that ecosystem, it will be able to tap the expertise of the other investee companies and have a market for its products.
