@daily8 I feel sad for you. Hope you can sleep well. Sadly to say, AirAsia will bankrupt soon if not borrow more money. If you know how to read the balance sheet, go have a look at its current/non current liability. They do not have enough liquid asset to cover the debt expiring in this year. Borrowing more money to pay the debt will only delay the situation. Issue more shares will dilute your future earning.

You point of whole market already know AirAsia will be red doesn't valid. We all know the market is irrational and mispriced by dumb people.

This -800m is just Q1 result, the beginning of visit Malaysia 2020 and the CNY season.
MCO start at 18 March and affect the Q1 for just 2 weeks. They made a -800m loss. Wait until you see Q2, probably -2billions? -2 is probably underestimated already, in Q1 at least people are flying. Q2 Is almost a zero passenger. I think -3 or -4 b also possible.

Today we are in Q3 and I doubt they will have better business than the Q1. Actually Q3 would be worse than Q1 a lot because this season is slow. And not many people will fly.

Next season also same. The next whole year also same because they launched the AirAsia unlimited pass for domestic market. So the revenue they will get next year also very very low, everyone fly unlimited times without paying woohoo, the pass is cheap too. I can fly to Sarawak and to penang(round trip) every month without paying for ticket

there are only 2 things to be expected here.
1. get a loan. but the liability gonna increase a lot. < this option is difficult considering many airlines has already bankrupt and hit very hard by covid19. dont think there will be any lender with good rate.
2. right issue. but the additional shares will dilute EPS < this option is easier as they had distributed hefty special dividends in the past 2 years. supposedly this asking more money from shareholders are more reasonable than taking loan.

if got any other available option please tell me. AA burn rate can only last them for a few months left. i think the cash they currently have is not enough to cover long

@DrJoel88, no bank in the right mind will offer a good loan for airlines. So many airlines has already declared bankrupt, if AA get a loan it will burn more money and left with nothing at the end. Which bank will borrow?

IMO, the best option is do a right issue and ask back all the money they paid in special devidend last year. (Total rm1.54 per share)
