mahoharan : It seems odd that at the last SGM that I attend, no shareholder was there to scold CF for the plunge in share price due to his selling down Lead Champion's stake. I expect some fireworks but nothing of that sort happened. What happened to all those who lost lots of money?. I read many blog postings by 'angry bloggers' don't you think the SGM or AGM would be the best platform to vent our frustrations at the co. management?. Just wondering .....???

CSL - A good buy when the world hates Chinese stocks?
The cheapness of the stock are self-evident and easy to quantify, lots of cash, healthy balance sheet, P.E. of 1.1(per past audited financials) ; however, like blind dating the risk is evident and much harder to quantify - but at this price, a moderately diversified investor could handle the uncertainty.

kingcobra : I can't blame u and I understand u must have suffered losses from yr past investment and u hate to see CSL mentioned. Well if I lose money it is ok because it take it one of my portfolio that went sour. Why be so bitter abt it. I am just stating some facts on Div. payout promised and since I have invested money in it isn't it my right to hope for the share to change direction in due course?. If I have your attitude towards CSL I would have sold off already. By the way I am still in the red in this counter to the tune of 100k. How much have u lost?
2014-01-27 15:23 | Report Abuse
All new CSL investors who bought low need to exercise patience and wait for the Div announcement in late FEB. The co. has already confirmed Div payout for 2013 and out of all the China stocks only CSL has announced their commitment to make Div payment. All others 9 China stocks are unlikely to declare any Div this year.
Just ignore all the cry and lamentations from investors who lost money and has sold off all their shares. If u have done enough research and are brave enough to take the risk then invest with the faith that CSL will reverse it's trend in time to come. I believe the reversal will start only upon a good div payout announcement. That's means CSL has cash in bank to make div payment.
I have nothing against swing traders playing the market for profit. No one can short the stocks on KLSE. One need to buy first and then only can sell off later at a higher price to make the differential. But to post inconsistent comments on this blog is shit stuff actually. U may be hiding under this anonymous blogger name, but I truly believe everyone still as a conscience deep down there. This forum is for investors to share notes and past experience and perhaps to learn from each other so that all can benefit from reading some of the postings. Don't turn this blog into a mud slinging contest otherwise all will desert and leave behind the "talk cock guys" so that they can continue to wallow in the mud!.

clleow : The extract from my response to Datuk in page 229 :
Correction - Yr non-current receivables figures got one extra k.
Of the RMB47,515,000 a large amount of RMB43,908,000 was deposit for machinery plant and machinery. THis has subsequently been transferred to PPE under fixed assets already. THat is why the PPE figures has shot up from RMB321m to RMB284m. The remaining amts are investments for setting up "shop in shop" concept.

I bet Wahaha126 will be back to this blog with positive comments very soon once he has bought back his shares!. The swing traders at work but morally it is wrong to do that - doesn't it hurt your conscience? One moment telling people to buy and next moment telling people to sell?. I think u are a smart investor who has made a lot of money by investing smart! But trying to influence others to buy sell to suit your swing timing is corruption of the soul.

sandylim : u must have lost a lot of money in china stocks. Investment is always risky and not just China counters but also any stock. Just got to be careful and do your homework before committing money to it. But CSL is already trashed down to 20c level - a near PN17 price level already. Investors like me take risk hoping to get some decent return.

kingleecha : U must have bought CSL at lowest price range and u are happy to keep it for Div. and potential returns in future. Do u think CSL will drop to 16c like some of the bloggers who has sold all their shares said?. Coming Div should be around 3.3c/share giving 16.5% return based on share price of 20c.

My best one is BLD Plant - bought @ 2.5-3.0 sold at 9+ record gain. Others like APM, Glenealy etc make good profit also. That's the reason why I don't punt after trying out on Cscenic many yrs ago. Make a few cents on and off but I missed the big run up to RM1. Learned my lesson well.

There are 5 groups of bloggers -
1. Potential investors with zero exposure in CSL looking for info and feedback to help them in making decision.
2. There are Short term swing traders who profit from the narrow price movements. They will buy and then give bullish comments in trying to influence others to invest in CSL. Once they have sold off they will then start to discredit the co. by posting all sorts of negative comments abt the co. These are the swing traders with mood swings all the time.
3. There are some who lost money and given up sold off all and may curse the co. and blame esp the management for their ill fate. Can they be blamed?. no.
4. Some of the original investors have held on to their shares still believing that the co. is good and will recover one day. Their faith is strong and I give credit to them.
5. This is the new group of investors not hurt by CSL price plunge since listing and willing to go in and take the risk at the bottom of the major downtrend. Can this group be wrong again?. Only time will tell. Let's us all wait and see!.

A new group of investors who has been watching CSL over the past 2 years has taken over the shares from those who has lost and given up hope in this counter. So I am not surprised at all when some say this is hell counter blah .. blah.. blah.. Just like after a big battle the battle field is full of blood with bodies all.
This new group of investors are more optimistic and willing to take some risk to enter at this low price range during the last few months. So if u are one of them do be patient and wait for things to happen and I am one of them here. Just check the 30 major shareholders listed last 2 years. Nearly all the minority shareholders(top 30) have sold off and taken over by new investors. The latest list probably will reveal the same thing.
CSL is still the same co. that people invested in 2 yrs ago. The risk taken then and now is different in magnitude. 20c now versus 93c - 1.93c. If CSL can consistently give div of 3.4c why not invest?. Compare with all china counters financials - if cash is suspect what abt all the other china counters' cash in bank?
2014-01-22 22:48 | Report Abuse
I think Kingcobra got it wrong - not 20c div!!. But 20% of net profit less 10% withholding tax will be paid out to shareholders as div.

2013 EPS estimated at 18.5c. So all fellow shareholders do expect to receive 3.3c as promised by CF at recent SGM and also confirmed to news reporters Nanyang.

Fam : China has a 10% withholding tax on div pymt. THat's why in 2012 only 3.4c div. instead of 3.8c based on 19c EPS.

I have vested interest in CSL, and I won't be so dumb not to get out when the situation gets dicey. I don't buy n sell my shareholdings often as I don't believe in making a few cents as I don't have that type of energy to expend. I have never changed my stand on CSL and have no intention to change my stand just to trade this counter.

CSL major stakeholders are mostly foreign omnibus accounts and by allowing these accounts to trade in KLSE, it is difficult to regulate as nobody knows who is buying and selling the shares. KLSE have no way to determine intent or to control unscrupulous actions. In particular, hosting omnibus accounts puts the exchange at risk of destabilizing the market through an influx of large volumes of foreign funds. That explains why sometimes CSL transaction volumes are so large that makes me suspect the people behind it are big boys who are in control of big funds. Small fry can never beat them in this game and the only way is to fish at the bottom of a major prolonged downtrend like CSL so that we can minimise the risk of losing big percentage of our investment. This is just my 2cents.

I think capitulation phase is quite over by now and CSL now in consolidation phase. Uptrend is not confirmed yet so far but all the indicators looks positive. Need to see the 4Q results and div announcement before trend changes. Let's see if CF pays a final div for 2013 or he splits the div into interim and final for 2013. The former would be bullish for CSL.

Datuk : CF moved his shareholdings around using different Authorised Nominees. He may be concealing under some of the EXEMPT Authorised Nominees which I suspect could be related to him in some way esp. if he uses some tax havens to do it. Nobody will know who the ultimate owners are. The latest shareholding breakdowns is going to tell some story. I very confident CSL won't go lower than 19c till 4Q results.

CSL 4Q results will be released next month end and I expect the result to be better that 3Q. For 3Q there was a loss of RMB40.03m on disposal of Pelican shares.

Better 4Q results and div 20% profit distribution less 10% withholding China tax should boost the share price upward and set it on uptrend. So expect same div rate as 2012 of 3.4c. Just my forecast.
