Pos Malaysia partners MCMC to enhance postal services in rural East Malaysia

CYBERJAYA (Oct 27): Pos Malaysia Bhd has today established a strategic partnership with the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC) to further enhance its postal services for rural communities in Sabah and Sarawak via the Pos Authorised Agent initiative at the Pusat Internet 1Malaysia (PI1M).

The initiative is part of the Postal Transformation Plan for Sabah and Sarawak (PTPSS) — now entering Phase 3 — in which Pos Malaysia has collaborated with MCMC since 2010.

“From the regulatory point of view, MCMC is tasked to ensure a healthy growth of e-commerce in Malaysia, as the growth is not only essential for it to build an all-inclusive broadband network, but it is also needed to create an excellent e-fulfilment network throughout the country, in line with the current user requirement,” MCMC deputy minister Dato’ Jailani Johari said.

With the Pos Authorised Agent initiative, the rural e-fulfilment facilities can be expedited at a lower cost, in tandem with the government’s recommendation under the National Blue Ocean Strategy Agenda (NBOS).

Jailani also said that the project will further strengthen and expand Pos Malaysia’s capabilities and offerings under the PTPSS project.
