mRNA vaccine is not practical/ feasible to be widely used in Malaysia, especially in the rural areas

"mRNA is an incredibly unstable molecule. In fact it can degrade itself if exposed to even a little bit of heat or base and for that reason has to be stored at- 80 °C (which is why NO MRNA VACCINE CANDIDATE IS LIKELY GOING TO BE THE FIX FOR COVID-19 IN LOWER AND MIDDLE INCOME NATIONS)."

The trial received approval from the National Health Regulatory Authority (NHRA).

During the study in Bahrain, Sinopharm’s inactivated vaccine candidate will be assessed for its effectiveness in antibody generation and the acquired protection against the virus.

THE VACCINE CANDIDATE IS PRE-QUALIFIED BY THE WORLD HEALTH ORGANIZATION AND PARTICIPANTS CAN REGISTER VIA THE NATIONAL VOLUNTEER PLATFORM.

This gives me the confidence that Sinopharm's covid vaccine will have NO PROBLEMS AT ALL obtaining WHO prequalification approval

" Vaccine “Made in China” and prequalified by WHO for the first time become available for UN procurement

Oct 9th, 2013, the World Health Organization (WHO) officially announced in Geneva: the live attenuated Japanese Encephalitis vaccine (SA14-14-2) (Hereinafter as “JE live vaccine”) produced by Chengdu Institute of Biological Products Co., Ltd., a subsidiary of China National Biotec Group Company Limited, a SINOPHARM GROUP COMPANY, HAS OBTAINED WHO PRE-QUALIFICATION. This is the first time that a vaccine made in China has passed WHO PQ, and become a new source for UN procurement agencies. This marks a new milestone of China’s vaccine industry."

Old news but this shows SInopharm has the capacity to produce vaccines which meet World Health Organization (WHO) prequalification standards. This strengthens the possibility that Sinopharm Covid Vaccine will be able to obtain WHO prequalification which meets international standards and can be exported all over the word.

"When WHO pre-qualified a Chinese-made vaccine for the first time last October, the move showed what Chinese vaccine manufacturers could potentially achieve and – in a sense – paved the way for others to follow suit.

“The prequalification of the Japanese encephalitis vaccine in China is a big step forward, and now several other Chinese producers are interested in obtaining prequalification for their vaccines,” says Melissa Malhame, whose team at the GAVI Secretariat in Geneva works with vaccine manufacturers around the world to ensure sufficient supply of high quality vaccines at affordable prices.

This and other Chinese vaccines are licensed by the China Food and Drug Administration (CFDA) that is part of China’s National Regulatory Authority (CNRA), which received WHO’s seal of approval in March 2011, after finding that it met WHO standards for vaccine regulatory oversight.

In July, this status was renewed, after a successful WHO reassessment of the vaccine regulatory part of the CNRA. WHO Director-General Dr Margaret Chan welcomed the news saying: “As a result of this evaluation, WHO is confident in the quality, safety and effectiveness of vaccines that are made in China.”

Pfizer's vaccine needs to be stored at negative 94 degrees Fahrenheit, executives previously said, according to MarketWatch. Another mRNA shot from Moderna requires storage at negative 4 degrees Fahrenheit.

The requirements would make standard vaccination in a doctors' office or pharmacy "very difficult," SVB Leerink analysts wrote. The vaccinations would instead have to take place at hospitals, labs or other under circumstances, they said.

Complicated stuff but this is a real concern for other ongoing clinical trials of covid vaccine which are lagging behind and can potentially disrupt the retention rate of participants in those clinical trials once the first covid vaccine in the world has been approved. This is because once the first covid vaccine in the world has been approved, some of the participants from the other ongoing clinical trials may demand to know whether they are being given the placebo or the actual vaccine. Once they find out, those on the placebo might opt to drop out of the clinical trial to get themselves vaccinated with the first covid vaccine in the world that has been approved. It may or may no longer be ethically possible or feasible to continue the clinical trials. Currently that is not a concern with Sinopharm Covid Vaccine as they are currently leading the global vaccine race.

Disadvantages of adenovirus vector vaccine and mrna vaccine. Best to stick to tried and tested vaccine technology ie inactivated vaccines eg Sinopharm vaccine

“Viral vector vaccine
This approach isn't new — it dates back to the 1980s — but only one viral vector vaccine has been ever been licensed for human use: Sanofi's Dengue vaccine.

Though the technology has shown promise, the two leading developers of coronavirus vector vaccines — AstraZeneca and Johnson & Johnson — have both put their US trials on hold to investigate unexplained illnesses in participants.

The vector approach may pose challenges for booster shots, though, since the body may recognize the adenovirus and attack it right away.

mRNA vaccine: the new kid on the block
No vaccine using this technology has ever been approved for human use.

there are challenges when delivering and storing them: Pfizer's vaccine needs to be shipped at -94 degrees Fahrenheit and Moderna's at -4 degrees Fahrenheit. In Pfizer's case, that would require vaccination sites to have deep freezers or dry ice on hand

The coronavirus mutates far more slowly than the flu, so researchers think a vaccine will remain effective over a longer time.

Sinopharm/SInovac Vaccine is safer than CanSIno vaccine and possibly more effective.

"Why China's bet on 'analogue' Covid-19 vaccines could pay off

Three of the four Chinese vaccine candidates [referring to Sinovac and Sinopharm vaccine ] in the final stage of clinical trials are inactivated vaccines a simple technique that kills off the Sars-CoV-2 virus in a lab and uses it to trigger an immune response.

But this strategy appears to be playing out well. Not only have the Chinese vaccines been among the fastest to reach phase 3 trials, data from the earlier phases showed positive results after all three inactivated vaccines induced antibodies and T-cell responses.

So far they have also shown milder side effects compared to other technologies.

A fourth Chinese candidate developed by military scientist Chen Wei and CanSino, which uses a weakened cold virus as a vector, HAS MORE SIDE EFFECTS AND MAY BE LESS EFFECTIVE BECAUSE MANY PEOPLE ALREADY HAVE IMMUNITY TO THE VIRUS USED."

I am of the opinion that Kanger is the most promising vaccine related counter - even more so than Solution, HWGB, Bintai and maybe even DPharma or Pharma. As to why, I will back all these up with facts once i have the time but in summary, Sinopharm vaccine as well as Sinovac Vaccine (both inactivated vaccines from China) are currently leading the global vaccine race even further ahead of USA and UK vaccines and are hence the most likely and promising covid vaccines to be the first world wide to obtain regulatory approval, not to mention Sinopharm vaccine ceritified Halal in UAE. Furthermore with coming signing of the Covid-19 MoU between China and Malaysia, the inking of exclusive distribution agreement with Sinopharm as well as China's assurance that Malaysia will be give priority access to their vaccines, these no doubt further strengthens the position of Kanger as the most promising vaccine related counter in Bursa.

China has not set any conditions for prioritizing the Philippines for the supply of coronavirus vaccines being developed in the mainland, Philippine Ambassador to Beijing Chito Sta. Romana said on Thursday.

"The prospects are bright in terms of a breakthrough in a vaccine," he added, noting that one or two brands are likely to be approved soon.

Pharmaceutical firms Sinovac and Sinopharm are close to completing phase 3 trials, the last step before regulatory approvals are given for widespread inoculation of vaccine doses, Sta. Romana noted.

The ambassador, however, said some 60,000 Chinese nationals have received the vaccines, including health workers and port frontliners who agreed as volunteer subjects.

Coronavirus: UAE minister Sheikh Saif bin Zayed gets Covid-19 vaccine

In recent weeks, several ministers have received the vaccine.

Last month, the UAE granted approval for the emergency use of the Covid-19 vaccine that is being trialled in the country. The vaccine, developed by China's Sinopharm, is now in the third and final stage of clinical trials and has so far been found safe and effective, according to authorities.

Over 31,000 volunteers had received the jab as part of the program. The vaccine is being administered to frontline workers and professionals who are at highest risk of contracting the virus. A number of top officials have also taken it.

Other UAE ministers who have taken the Covid-19 vaccine include Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation; Abdulrahman Al Owais, Minister of Health and Prevention; Obaid Al Shamsi, director general of the National Emergency Crisis and Disasters Management Authority; Noura Al Kaabi, UAE Minister of Culture and Youth, Sheikh Khaled bin Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Member of the Executive Council and Chairman of the Abu Dhabi Executive Office was administered the vaccine on September 24.

The World Health Organization (WHO) and Vaccine Alliance (GAVI), two global leading facilitators in promoting COVID-19 vaccine equal distribution around the world, recently applauded China's efforts to support vaccine accessibility to some underdeveloped countries, hailing China's decision to join the COVID-19 Vaccines Global Access Facility, or COVAX, which the US has spurned.

"It is very positive news that China has become part of the COVAX Facility, as it gives even more momentum to our efforts to ensure global, equitable access to COVID-19 vaccines. The COVAX Facility now has 182 economies involved and vaccine deals are underway," a spokesperson for GAVI, which co-initiated COVAX, told the Global Times in a recent interview via text.

China officially joined COVAX on October 8, which is seen as an essential to upholding the concept of a shared community of health for all and to honor its commitment to turn potential COVID-19 vaccines into a global public good.

Butantan Institute reported that 35 percent of the 9,000 Coronavac volunteers in the late-stage clinical trials in Brazil had only mild reactions, such as pain at the application site, and no serious side effects, according to the statement the Institute sent to the Global Times on Tuesday.

China promises to sell Covid-19 vaccines at ‘fair and reasonable’ price around the world

China has promised that its Covid-19 vaccines will be sold around the world at a “fair and reasonable” price, with help available for developing countries.

“For underdeveloped or developing countries, we will provide assistance to those countries to help achieve accessibility and affordability of Covid-19 vaccines.”

Zheng said that companies had the right to set their own prices, but should consider setting a price based on manufacturing cost rather than market forces.

President Xi Jinping has repeatedly said that Chinese-made vaccines will be a “global public good” without explaining what this means.

But Zheng’s comments suggest this means they will be on sale globally, with financial help on offer to countries that would otherwise struggle to pay for them.
