Highlights from the Defence Minister's #COVID19 briefing:
- The Election Commission has released strict SOPs for the Sabah election.
- The govt hopes that parties will limit door-to-door campaigns and political talks.
- Wearing face masks, maintaining personal hygiene is a must.
- On polling day, try to keep to the voting schedule set by the Election Commission.
- Those showing infection symptoms will be taken to a special area to vote.
- Those under quarantine ARE ALLOWED to vote.
- But they must make an application with local health authorities, so they can make the necessary arrangements.
- COVID-positive patients in hospital are NOT allowed to vote.
- Those traveling back to the peninsular or Sarawak after voting DON'T HAVE TO BE QUARANTINED.
- However, anyone who shows infection symptoms should take a swab test when they return.
- Operating hours at sports premises have been extended from midnight to 2am.
- It's up to police to take action against influencers prank people by wearing pink wristbands in public.
- 130 people were arrested for breaching COVID-19 SOPs.
- They were detained for the usual reasons: including not wearing masks and going to pubs and nightclubs.

KUALA LUMPUR (Sept 8): As the contagiousness of the coronavirus rises in Malaysia, Health director-general Tan Sri Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah is urging the public — especially front liners — to follow standard operating procedures (SOPs) aimed at preventing the spread of Covid-19.
In a media briefing, he said Malaysia's rate of infection — known as R0 (pronounced R-naught) — has risen to 1.72 from 0.72 in a matter of two weeks. An R0 of 1.72 means that a coronavirus carrier could infect another 1.72 people on average.
"This significant jump shows the risk of more transmissions in the community," said Noor Hisham.
He observed that the community at large appears to be slacking in adhering to, or even ignoring, the SOPs.
"Advice that has been dispensed is being taken lightly, including by front liners such as health workers and those with other agencies," he added.
Noor Hisham pointed out that front liners — whether from public or private sectors — have an elevated risk of contracting Covid-19 or other infectious diseases while on duty. This is in addition to local transmission risks they face from the community, while they are off duty.
Thus, a 100% compliance with management compliance and procedures at all times is important, he said.
"Non-compliance will result in the transmission of Covid-19. For example, it was reported today that there was a health worker from the Sungai cluster who was found to have infected seven family members."
The Sungai cluster, which was announced by the Ministry of Health yesterday, has 23 new cases today. Sixteen of those cases involve the staff of a private medical centre, including the one who infected his family.
He reminded health workers to always protect themselves by wearing personal protective equipment.
Meanwhile, the Bukit Jalil Immigration Detention Centre cluster in Kuala Lumpur ended today, making it the 96th cluster in Malaysia to have ended, according to the ministry's social media.
The Bukit Jalil Immigration Detention Centre was the second-largest cluster in Malaysia after the Seri Petaligh tabligh cluster. It had recorded 653 positive cases and one death.
Malaysia recorded 100 new Covid-19 cases today — the highest single-day jump since the Recovery Movement Control Order began on June 10.
This brought the total cases in the country to 9,559 with 295 active cases.
Twelve Covid-19 patients have recovered, bringing the total recoveries to 9,136. As for the death toll, the number has stayed at 128 for eight straight days.

You’re right @crawler. Still many sees tekseng as supplying mask or at least what I speculate through reading this forum. Tek Seng supplying non woven material which caters more than mask itself. All the PPE material related to non woven are their clients, so tek seng is share price really low now. Even notion is at RM1 above, I don’t understand why Tek seng is valued any lower.

(Kuala Lumpur, 1st) The major shareholder and non-independent non-executive chairman Tan Sri Dato’ Tan Huachun holds GPA Holdings (GPA, 7096, Main Board Industrial Products Service Group), which has decided to diversify its business to glove manufacturing and sales. It is expected to be 24 Install 12 automated production lines within a month, with an annual output of 3.6 billion gloves.
In order to carry out the above-mentioned transformation plan, the company decided to privately place 294,146,000 new shares or 30% of the total equity to Datuk Wang Ziming, Hung Lam Cho, Lam Bao Yi and Datuk Cheng Thien Hock; and each subscribed 11.54%, 3.85%, 3.85% and 3.84% equity.
Earlier, Wang Ziming offered to buy Bailey Institution (RUBEREX, 7803, Main Board Industrial Product Service Group) at RM1 and 80 sen per share.
GPA Holdings signed 4 share subscription agreements today to place the above new shares at an issue price of 17.56 sen per share for a total of RM51.65 million. In addition, another 15% employee stock subscription plan was launched for qualified directors and employees.
It is estimated that the 12 production lines will require a total of 150 million ringgits, and the transformation plan needs to be approved by shareholders.

Tek Seng’s polypropylene non-woven manufacturing business has seen a jump in orders and it is on the lookout for a parcel of land in Bukit Mertajam, Penang, to build a plant to boost its capacity in this segment.
Non-woven fabric is used for the manufacturing of masks and protective gowns.
The company has set aside RM20 million as capital expenditure (capex) to increase production capacity, as it has been running at the full capacity of 300 tonnes a month.
For 2Q ended June 30, 2020, Tek Seng reported a net profit of RM6.54 million compared with a net loss of RM3.99 million a year ago.

Even the price per piece drop until RM0.70 - RM0.90. One box of mask is equivalent to RM35 - RM45. Those who are selling is already selling lower than that. The government won’t arrange anything lesser than that. The government is just setting a price because i mask is a necessity to citizens. And I believe tek seng who does export is earning more than supplying to Malaysian market itself. So chill and relax guys!
