Forward contract does not work that way. You fix the future price and you only recognize the sales when you actually deliver the product. It means, you cannot sell it earlier.. you just fix the price now and then you sell it later when the time comes at the price you have fixed..

Average price of CPO for Q1 2021 was RM3,010 per MT (Q1 2020:RM2,599 per MT) --- Increase 16%

Average PK price was RM2,113 per MT (Q1 2020:RM1,480 per MT) --- Increase 43%

As for FFB production, the Group achieved 228,188 MT in Q1 2021 compared with 207,727 MT for Q1 2020. --- Increase 10%

This segment reported lower revenue of RM220.1 million (from both Continuing and Discontinued Operations) for Q1 2021, compared to RM221.8 million for Q1 2020. --- No increase in revenue.

Average price increased and production increased but no increase in revenue. That means lower volume of CPO and PK sold. Will this be recognised in the coming quarter?

Palm Products Segment
This segment reported lower revenue of RM220.1 million (from both Continuing and
Discontinued Operations) for Q1 2021, compared to RM221.8 million for Q1 2020.
This is mainly due to lower CPO and PK sold partially offset by higher higher average CPO
and PK prices. Average price of CPO for Q1 2021 was RM3,010 per MT (Q1
2020:RM2,599 per MT) and average PK price was RM2,113 per MT (Q1 2020:RM1,480
per MT). As for FFB production, the Group achieved 228,188 MT in Q1 2021 compared
with 207,727 MT for Q1 2020.

maxprofit2020 can we conclude that the info provided by gunter is the latest and reflect the current situation ?

Planned Schedule for Unit 1

31 Jan 2020 - Firing Up (Done)

13 May 2020 - Turbine Speed Regulation

14 May 2020 - Connection to the national grid and initial power generation

12 July 2020 - Reliability Test 168 hours

11 August 2020 - Performance / Stress Test

28 August 2020 - Provisional Acceptance (Unit 1)

21 Feb 2021 - Provisional Acceptance (Unit 2)

Commercial Operation will only happen after Provisional Acceptance, NOT March 2020

Now you know why somebody say hold until Feb 2021 to win big.

You should calculate the return by multiplying the gains or losses, not adding/subtracting them.. This calculation is very flawed as a 50% loss in a year and then 50% gain in the following year would still mean a 25% total loss, compared with a 10% loss and then followed by a 10% gain will break even.

Great work teoct. I love reading your articles.

I would like to share a bit of my thoughts.

I think there is no need to put much attention into the cost of materials and manpower. You can find that the inventory level in the balance sheet is minimal at around 6-7m only. Manpower will not be the determining factor for the volatility of the profits as well because as you mentioned, there is ample supply of manpower in the current market. The cost of manpower will be stable. Furthermore, as the manpower is paid based on daily rates, the will be no cost to Dayang when there is no job.

What determines the profitability of Dayang is their work load. When there is low work load, the utilisation of Perdana's vessel will take a hit as the jobs done by Dayang requires support from the vessels. If you look into Perdana's income statement, you will realise what I mean.

The most important thing for Dayang now is their work load and Perdana vessels' utilisation and charter rate which is difficult to predict.

Keep up the good work!
