(TNB) has initiated a pilot project in Jasin, Melaka this month to assess the technical, safety and commercial viability of using TNB’s electrical infrastructure for the government’s National Connectivity Plan (NCP) that will allow faster, cheaper and wider Internet accessibility.

“The pilot project, to be completed by the end of 2018, will cover 1,100 out of 4,300 houses in three areas, namely Taman Merbau, Taman Maju and Felda Kemendor, in Jasin,” TNB Chairman, Tan Sri Leo Moggie said in a statement.

Moggie said households would gain access to high speed broadband (HSBB) network that will be made available through TNB’s owned fibre optics which forms part of the company’s existing telecommunication network.

“Telecommunications system has always been an integral part of the utility industry. For TNB, we have been developing our telecommunication network all these years,” he said.

He explained that the national electricity corporation’s telecommunication network now uses fibre optics technology as part of the electricity grid operation’s design and requirements to ensure high reliability of electricity supply nationwide.

TNB, with full support from the Ministry of Communication & Multimedia Malaysia and the Ministry of Energy, Science, Technology, Environment and Climate Change has earlier been invited to participate in the NCP to help expedite the delivery of this program.

The pilot project will be the platform to test the concept of open access. The platform is expected to stimulate active participation from new and existing providers in backhaul and retail broadband that will create competition that should push broadband prices down for the benefit of Malaysians.

If u check from the chart,from March to June 2018 feed cost is the highest among these few years, and Riggit depreciate a lot against USD. But after June, feed cost drop significantly, egg price normalize due to decrease in supply and Ringgit depreciate slower against USD. All these believe will be good to this company.

Recently increase in oil production activities from the world will sure benefit to this company as Daya is providing O&G services to those oil company. Besides that, Penang Transport Master Plan is on the way to implement, believe Daya's Penang construction subsidiary will benefit from this by extraordinary project record in Penang construction development.

it need proceed with regularization plan, and continuous profit for 2 quarters to exits from pn17. Regularization plan mainly will reduce debt, interest and increase stake holding on its profit making subsidiaries. Once its regularization plan is done, confirm turn to profit making company.

something can be sure is this company downstream business is getting better and better, expect coming quarter profit increase in company O&G segment. As per stated in company financial report.

all segments in profit, but due to its shareholdings in these subsidiaries not 100%, and loan interest very high from another subsidiary, causing loss making even though recording profit 2million+ in all segments.

what company should do is
1. buy back those profitable controlling share from other shareholder (profit boost)
2. Debt restructure, may be with AS Offshore proceed with conversion for convertible loan (debt and interest reduction)
3. Bid for more projects (revenue boost)

coming quarter result expect still loss making but better than previous quarters. Since company already exits from loss making business like polymer & Upper stream O&G, the remaining business Down Stream O&G, Techinical Services operation should be in profit, but overall not able to cover its finance cost.

Consider a surprise if able to turn to profit. Which is possible too as this company having steady order book

FYI, Siem Offshore bond conversion price should be around rm0.13 - rm0.165 (may be higher or lower) depends on Premium/Discount given by Daya when the date bond issued. Not base on current price.
