GenM shares should drop more than Genting shares because Genting owns only 36% of GenM. Only 70% GenM revenue is from gaming, so another about 20% increase in gaming tax, casino licence fees, slot machines and table fees affects about 15% of GenM revenue on Genting. That should be about 5% impact on GenM profits. This has already been factored in from the recent drop. But investors sentiment may respond otherwise. BUY call if price falls on panic selling.

I have confirmed that the gaming tax was raised 10% from 25% to 35%. That will translate to about a reduction of RM250m(including additional casino licence and estimated slot machine duties) in profit contributions from GenM to Genting. Based on Genting 2019 profit projection of RM6.2 billion, that translate to about 4% impact to its bottom line. Therefore share price should correspondingly be down by same margin. Buy call..

Anyone worked out the impact of the hike to 35% gaming tax on Genting Bhd profits. According to the 2017 annual report, GenM contributed 36%revenue. Every 1% increase will contribute about 1% reduction in profits. What was the original tax rate b4 budget? Was it 25%?

Aiya. There was only one big seller who pushed the price down to 7.20 at the closing of the market. If you check the trade summary, no trade was done between 7.20 to 7.40 except 1 lot at 7.38. The buyers were not able to react as no one expected someone to throw the price down to 7.20. Come Monday, there will be lots of buying support. So brace yourself for a see saw.. Those who can pick up the shares win. Haha
