hmm.. wait is better. March Fed rate hike is quite likely. I would expect another round of rate hike squeeze from US dollar strengthening. I don't dare to add more now as well, not because of stock, but rather valuation of Ringgit. Last time i sold Malaysia Stock, is 3.21 (MYR/USD). Now it is nice number of 4.44 (MYR/USD), which in mandarin sound like die die die. I bought some Malaysia stock 3-6 months ago due to i thought the ringgit is low enough and oil price, China and election might help a bit for Bursa. But just some small position due to the risk or Ringgit!!!!

@ TheContrarian, are you mainly focus in Bursa Malaysia? Any other countries to reduce risk? I only have less than 10% in Bursa due to worry about the currency.

@ TheContrarian, i knew INSAS own brokerage hold majority of as well. But if that sell, they need to file insider trading notice due to indirect change. But how do you know if they pledge their shares? If this happened, normally there are stock the slump, is it HSBC?

Last time got share buy back to reduce float...And most important problem is that, those who bought at 1.2 or 1.3, got burned. It is not easy for them to forget.

Not so simple. Fed rate up will last few years typically. Along the ways, some weaker currencies or countries fallout which further boost the believe US is the only choice. Many countries got no choice as most of the company use USD when issuing their bond....But few years back, i notice Insas benefit from this. Not pretty sure why.

Well, rate up season coming again. People flood to US counter or HK counter during this time.

@ TheContrarian, it is selling asset to fill hole. If you look at the current liability number, it is way bigger hole there. I didn't go into details, but if really want to understand, it is better to understand if their liabilities are in USD. O&G company that go burst and can't refinance, mostly service their debt in USD while earning money in local market.

Take a quick look at Parkson. Guess it is great for trading. But high risk for invest. The way it run, probably will continue see cash burning and force them to sell assets. Insas better....

Got a gut feeling that they will release treasury stock as dividend. This happen in INSAS history before...if i remember correctly, INSAS do have around 5% of treasury stock 2 years ago. Or did it release already? Didn't follow this stock for last 2 years.

@ TheContrarian, i'm not sure what is it now.... like 97 but not exactly same behaviour. Najib and China add too much change to the equation. China is cultivate an ally (Malaysia). So, we probably see Malaysia shielded by China on trade even if US squeeze money out from emerging market.

Stock

2017-02-15 14:38 | Report Abuse

@ BLee, yeah, this super bull cycle is weird. I don't dare to invest too much in Malaysia as, ultimately, Fed is the one who control the currency rate. If they further tighten, 97 event will occurs again. If stock gain alot, but currency drop like 97, also not much juice left. High risk high gain is great, but i'm rather play safe. Been burned by O&G sector around USD50k last year. Only dare to collect some relatively safer bet, when ringgit is cheap and share price is cheap, like INSAS, BJCORP and GENM in Bursa Malaysia.

Stock

2017-02-15 13:24 | Report Abuse

@BLee, engineering approach work on INSAS. quantity of shares is not that much. Reduce the float and share price will up. Also, i think they will initiate share buy back when they need it. Or best scenario, release their treasury share as dividend, like BJcorp. I got 3% additional share recently and i'm happy.

@ TheContrarian, Insas will share. I'm returned investor of Insas. They have good track record of sharebuyback before the melt down. Last time, they have the tradition of accumulate share and return to shareholder as dividend. Now they are sitting on around 3-5% of treasury stock. They can't sharebuyback now most likely due to most of the treasury stock are bought by them above 80cents. As for the Inari stake, last time Inari is whole-owned by them. They public list them. Anyway, i got no crystal ball as well. Just got to hope. I like the constant 10-20% profit, but nothing beat owning a stock that grow 100% or 200%. It will be a trophy for your lifetime. I value success in investing > success in trading. Odd of zero sum game only benefit brokers.

@ TheContrarian, actually i think major shareholder seldom trade. Only traders like to pump or short sell to make movement up and down. The last up trend few year back, brought it from 0.4 to 1.3 slowly in 1 or 2 years. I believe this is not a stock for trader. I hope people don't buy for the uptrend, buy for the dividend. If stock above 80sen, they might initiate sharebuyback. They can't do share buyback now as their treasury stock are mostly above this price. They might need to do accounting adjustment if do it now. These are just my thought.

Stock

2017-01-17 09:18 | Report Abuse

Insas is low trade volume. Once some buyer notice and start to accumulate, the only direction is up. Once it is above 80sen, it might fly because of their management might call for share buyback again.

@Eukansoft, thank for sharing. It is very good advise. Points to highlight...
1. Recession or obviously undervalue is key to success or safety.
2. No betting and no leverage.
3. Trustworthy management.

These are the key point that i bought some Insas share as well. But i keep looking to run whenever i saw Najib's news or the new budget release. Recession haven't started yet. Malaysia is following the trail of Indonesia. When you get USD 1 change 10 Ringgit, cry also no use.

So, beside all the good points, no one know the future, invest at own risk and there is no such thing as low risk.

@ TheContrarian, Dividend might not be good choice. I think if they able to go back to what they did last time, would be even better. Share buy back and when accumulate enough, give it out as bonus to shareholder. But as i mentioned 1 or 2 months back, Insas can't do that. They got to lock down loss on treasury share they're holding if they share buy back now. Only chance i can see share buy back is probably when their price is back to above 0.8. Only thing i don't like this Insas is sometimes their trade volume is really low. I see that as a risk to hold 1M share.

Stock

2016-09-20 10:31 | Report Abuse

if can break 0.8, share buyback would occur. Then share will fly.

It won't happen at any price lower than 0.8.

@ Calvin, it is free discussion, less have a constructive discussion with facts and history and number. Not by speculation and claim like, it is your loss if you don't trust me.

I think that is what you pressed hard, Ben Graham teaching, right?

Btw, i believe i'm at loss nowadays as i am too fearfu with the conditions and cashed out most of my position this year and sit at sideline now. Boring and got nothing much to do beside come forum chit chat and see what others' opinion on some future stock which i might buy.

I appreciate your insight if it is base on technical, data, analysis just like what you learned. I believe you have high probability of being right as share price of BJ corp is really at long time low and they initiate some share buyback also to create some bottom support.

But i would still not buy it now as i have other to consider, such as currency risk. If I gain 20% at stock and loss 20% in currency, net net I will make a loss (1.2 x 0.8 = 0.96). That's is how math works.

Agree with Datuk.
Year 2000, Jan 03, Berkshire close 54800 and yesterday 209600.
Year 2000, Jan03, Berjaya corp close 0.93 and yesterday 0.485,

One grow by 282% and one -47.8%. As far as i know, both didn't split share.

If Berjaya corp is a acorn, then probably someone cooked it and kill the seed already.

Plant grow faster if you know where to plant the seed.
From all the news, it is good that put money at somewhere, such as US.

If the stock you pick gain with all the "good news" available, plus US dollar go higher. Then you got 2 engine instead of one leg kicking.

Then wait for GST impact on Malaysia economy, come back, then you can laugh when other complain about inflation and so on.

Stock

2015 will hurt big corp bad as GST cut in. See what happen to Japan, may be a quarter before GST implemented, you will see a surge in sales and GDP, but after that, it will drop hard. So, best time line to go in is at least wait for the GST cut in 1 quarter. Don't tell me you're long term investor if you can't even wait for just another 6 to 9 months. Just relax and sit sideline first, or invest other place. Ringgit is risky also with QE end.
