KUALA LUMPUR (June 14): Low-cost carriers AirAsia Bhd and AirAsia X Bhd (AAX) as well as airport operator Malaysia Airports Holdings Bhd (MAHB) advanced this morning after the International Air Transport Association (IATA) said global airline share prices performed strongly in May this year, surging 7.8% to be up more than 20% over the past year.

At 11.54am, AirAsia added 5 sen or 1.51% to RM3.35 with 2.17 million shares changing hands. AAX rose 1.22% or 0.5 sen to 41.5 sen with 10.59 million shares traded, while MAHB was up 4 sen or 0.44% at RM9.07 with 1.36 million shares done.

In its May 2017 Airlines Financial Monitor released yesterday, IATA said gains were observed in all three regions, but European airline shares led the way again this month, with a 14.3% rise.

KUALA LUMPUR (June 14): The Employee Provident Fund (EPF) has ceased to be a substantial shareholder in DRB-Hicom Bhd after disposing of 800,000 shares.

According to the group's filing on Bursa Malaysia yesterday, EPF had ceased to hold more than 5% stake in the company after the share disposal on June 8.

At 11.43am, DRB-Hicom was down 2 sen or 1.49% at RM1.76 with 2.34 million shares traded.

Fed set to raise interest rates, give more detail on balance sheet winddown

WASHINGTON (June 13): The US Federal Reserve is widely expected to raise its benchmark interest rate this week due to a tightening labor market and may also provide more detail on its plans to shrink the mammoth bond portfolio it amassed to nurse the economic recovery.

EPF sold 11m shares in end of May made the price drop to 2.9x. Now we have recover above 3.20. The next question is whether EPF will buy back the same volume or half? and when they will come back? or they are not coming back? If EPF come back, supermx will adjust his so call big gap down to 3.20 when the price fly to 3.40. You dont know when they will come back.

Every Friday is selling day, because some investor doesnt like to put money in share over the weekend. You dont know what will happened over the weekend. They play safe. If suddenly war breakout over the weekend? SARS? anything can happen because market stop 3 days, operation still running. They rather lose abit of brokerage to play safe, that is very normal.
