another tip, market moves when the big boys moved them, and they move the counter only when they are seeing the results...most counters fy end is in dec so their result come out at the end of march so u will see some counters going up due to this, these counters fy starts in jan, and in june they will report their q1 result. q1 result normally will be terrible cause in practical management will only start working on the kpi at the end of january so q1 will be a disaster for 100% of them, q2 also wouldnt achieve the fc, only q3 which the result comes out at the end of nov will show a better than or inline with fc, therefor fm will stay away or slow down from may until aug, u can see some play n sept...

another important tip before buying is "wait" until you get the price you want;) patience is very important hehehe

hweilee, knowing accounting will be better to equip you for decision making...for instance normal people wouldnt understand why market so slow from may to aug, but for accounting people its just common sense.
For counter selection, better drill down from top so that you can see the macro moves, like selecting regions, countries, markets, segments and finally counters. tip for selecting counters, take best performer of the segment. for instance i'm loading into construction as construction is the best sector for next few years, so you can categorize them into 2 segment mature or growth counters. Matures are like Gamuda IJM etc and growth are like Ekovest, Mitra etc, from there you need to do your accounting job into the PL. Another tip, choose predictability, meaning choose managers that deliver their forecast, always produce better or results inline with forecast, cause current SC framework still cant manage so many conman managing public listed companies.
