Very true.
Sustainable dividend is more important. one off high dividend can be paid out from borrowing.
Also low PE doesn't tell the full story because can be manipulated.
Nett Cash holding vis-a vis debt hard to cheat.
Good free cashflow from operations hard to cheat.

In my whole life, I had only attended 2 public company AGMs and that happened only last month. For 2 both AGMs, I was ABSOLUTELY disappointed to see what took place. 99% of the attendees are uncles and aunties who are only interested for the free cheap meals. Remaining 1% are "investors" planted in by the controlling shareholders for various reasons.
Few questions were asked and yet that few questions posted to the Management are on trivial matters. Nobody asked critical questions on important matters.
I can see how Management of public companies, especially very poor quality and dishonest Management/controlling shareholders can just get away with incompetency, irregularity, unfair deal! Sad to see how minority shareholders can be taken for a ride so easily!
That is simply because minority shareholders allow that to happened !
Food for thought.

P/S -I scrutinised the Management in both AGMs. I have also caused a stir in one of the AGM too. I will do my small part in investors' activisimn and I encourage you to do so.

if we strip all assets one by one, the company worth more than $5 per share. When the time comes, significant minority shareholders shall group together to deny takeover offer at unreasonable price and demand alternative offer by third parties. All can be worked out.

The last attempt to take the company private was not a serious move by the big boss!. It was just testing the water.
I suspect the next offer will come within next 12 months.

I think the merger is as good as done. With full fledged banking licence, MBSB really mean something. Profit will soar in next financial year as progressive impairment of NPL to match to the standard of commercial bank will be completed this financial year. I believe there will be write back to profit from heavy impairment made in the last few years, thus shall contribute further to P&L.
I will hold it for at least another year to see the maximum return.

I feel minority is always at the mercy of controlling shareholders even there is MGO.

I think when CAC finally take up all the remaining share from WCE at $0.095, he and parties acting in concert will hold just under 33% which is the 1st trigger level for MGO. Concluding the final block of share hold by WCE at $0.095 will not automatically lift the trading price.

CAC may only want to cross the trigger point some months or years later through private deal at low price (say $0.05). Consequently, the MGO offer could still be at low price too.
Anyone who knows the listing rules please offer your comment.

Dear Calvin,

I like your analysis on talam. But the question remain why the share price remain at 50% discount from what CAC, the bigget shareholders, pay to acquire from WCE ?
Is it because investors are ignorant or is it something else?

High volume(80-90 mil) in the queue to buy at $0.04. Who could be the interested buyers ? Chan Ah Chye ?

Chan Ah Chye still have a contract to buy the 2nd tranche of 400mil share at $0.095 from WCE which contractually due in Aug 2017. Why should he honour the contract if he can buy from open market at much lower price ?
