The trick to become a millionaire is by increasing one's nett worth. More money can be made from properties investment than stocks. Good money can be made buying cheap shares following major market crashes. Short term trading is an exciting entertainment for zero sum gain.

At the rate we are going........MAS would be in 0.330 - 0.335 for another long period...can see the accumulation is at 0.330/0.335

I am of the opposite view...all these whiles, the management for MAS were appointed by the Government, quite normal for a GLC. But you have to believe that people who have worked for 30 years in the industry should know better how to run such industry. Experiences count and in match the renumerations. In O&G, people who have worked for more than 30 years often become MD, CEO, VPs, etc. If the manager are not involved in key decisions how would they able to influence the running of the company. Thus you cannot over rule people who have experiences in the industry as incapable just because the company is losing money...that's not a fair assessment. If I were to select the CEO, I would select the most brilliant and experienced manager from MAS orgnaisation - and not an outsider who seemingly has a PhD in management but has zero hand's on. They Gov't had tried with their own CEO for donkey years, they are proven to be unable, except Idris.

it will take long time to reach 0.29......unless market crash..or something terrible happen. Remember Khazanah owns 70%...they won't allow price go too low. On the other hand if price becomes higher, they may change their mind and sell MAS... bwahahahahaha

What Maseu claimed could be the most sensible thing. MAS has been run by Gov't appointed CEO/Chairman for ages...many items had been cronitised...remember the story on MAS Catering where prices were unbelievaly inflated...in the cronism world people get contacts at the whims of certain people ignoring all aspects of prudent management. What about he said the RM1.0 billion spareparts stock...LOL...how ironic to buy such stock in today era of IT and globalisation..........hope Maseu nominated CEO is given the chance! Then the price goes up further hehehe

Of course selling off the building, but if i remember correctly, the proceed from the building was far to little to pay off total accumulated losses. I don't think the selling the building was the sole reason how MAS turned into profitable for 10 quarters. It has got to be some sort of prudent management, cost control, zero wastage, etc...even the decision to sell the building is one such prudent decision....
2013-08-14 14:44 | Report Abuse
as reported earlier Idris (whether real or fake) managed to deliver profit for 10 consecutive quarters for MAS, why can't the current CEO do that? Maybe they don't want to sell MAS at 0.50 but if at RM1.0, could be different. He said "not for sale for now"....not for now only, doesn't discount future decision. What if they bring Idris back to run MAS, get its share price to go way up and then they sell..........I don't think it is the end of the story here...reading between the lines, one thing is for sure is that the Gov't won't let MAS die!

KUALA LUMPUR: Malaysian Airline System Bhd (MAS) should not be sold at a loss, says Minister in the Prime Minister's Department Datuk Seri Idris Jala.
The former managing director and CEO of MAS in December 2005, said on Tuesday there should not be a fire sale of the national carrier.
Idris, who is also head of Pemandu, said MAS should have been sold when he was there when the share price rose to about RM6.
MAS posted 10 consecutive quarterly profits during his tenure as the CEO between 2006 and 2008.
(The share price has since been adjusted following several corporate exercises including two rights issue).
Idris also said over time, the Malaysian Government should reduce a lot of its stakes.
Khazanah Nasional Bhd is the single largest shareholder in MAS with 69.37% or 11.59 billion shares while the Employees Provident Fund has a 1.04% or 174.21 million shares.
SO KHAZANAH, CAN YOU STOP SELLING AT 0.315?

Agreed with merzman, millionaire status is so common. Just check your nett worth to see if not you are already a millionaire. Simple check: You are a millionaire if your nett worth is > 1 million when you do this arithematics [ (cash + properties + stocks + gold + old wines + valuables + business calcuated as its current nett worth + EPF + current value of unit trusts, lands, etc) minus (all oustanding loans + outstanding credit cards + all debts, etc) ].
How much "multi" is enough? The answer is it is never enough. However, if one's nett passive incomes from dividends, rentals, etc. after deducting all expenses, installment, etc. is enough to support one's life style, then one needs not work and can be considered financially free. Some people can live on 2 to 3k a month. Majority can't. Some need > 30k to 40k of passive incomes a month to have a secured feeling. Going further to "multi" and affluent status one needs >100k per month of passive incomes......
...........but then again I won't be too far wrong to say most Malaysians do not have much passive incomes. If they are millionaires by the caclulation their incomes are predominantly active ones(salaries/fees/directors fees). So lets just forget about calling each other millionaire and figure out how this bloody MAS counter can go up :)

How to compare MAS to AA when one is a normal airlines and the other one is budget-cheap cheap. It takes me a while to get used for a stewardess carries black garbage bag inside the plane in order to save cleaner cost. I have to focus on the red skirt instead.....

deadwood is also the name of a drama series, a cowboy town, worthwatching is you can stand cowboys' uncencored ways that are full of vulgarities - google to find out

Who are the deadwoods in MAS I wonder? The pilots and crews seem to be doing good job. Where is the waste? I don't think it is so much bad workforce issue but more on lacked of cost saving drive. Perhaps their salary scale is too high, etc. Where did MAS go wrong would have been a question that had been asked a thousand times...is the answer = lousy manpower?
2013-07-17 07:44 | Report Abuse
MAS is at its all time low. Those who bought at 0.305 0r 0.30 have very little downside, for those who believe. I bought mine ar 0.315 and currently in the red. The thing is the decision to buy at this all time low price is actually a rational decision contrary to those who spurn MAS (at this price) for the reason best known to thesmselves. We shall see who are the winners in the end don't we? As for me for a penny stocks that needs small capital, even if MAS goes down to 0.10, I won't have sleepless night. Since there more upside than downside at current price, we and the like, would wait for the time to make some decent profits. We had heard you, we appreciated your concern but each man his own decision. Don't condemn others for their decisions when its contradict yours. Don't even wish them gook luck as that deems to be sarcastics.

2013-07-16 14:38 | Report Abuse
who are the people? look at the volume, those are the traders, ther are still people selling at 0.31 (to the anchored buyer). The anchored buyer park bid at 0.31 and at the same time ask selling at 0.315 can't be the same one who make the volume. So when the volume has gone down at 0.31/0.315 level maybe then the small fish would have finally sold off...maybe then the game change.....what do you think?
