In the process it out maneuver everyone..including sifu, rookie and big or small picture person...The lesson..if you belief you are in the right boat ( aircraft rather), then stay put, enjoy the flight and treat each other with respect and dignity !!!

Somehow the expectation for Qtr3 was too high and the unmet expectation leads to a protracted correction cum consolidation from Aug to Dec of 2016. Looking back this is good and healthy as AA was on the uptrend since Sept of 2015 ! Now that the uptrend is reestablished one can reasonably expect the previous high (RM3:20) to be breached , especially with so many positives and catalyst coming. With the super-good qtr 4 results hinted by TF, not surprise RM3:20 will be revisited just prior to release of results (26Feb ?). Post results could bring it to RM3:50 if super-good is fulfilled ! The AAC announcement should propel it to the RM4 range. Just an opinion . Happy Tuesday !

With the doom and gloom going on here..is easy to forget the great potential of AA . Bringing to remembrance and quoting part of a recent report by Macquarie Research which values AAC at :
US$ 1.8B !!!
" AirAsia Group chief executive Tony Fernandes confirmed that the group has received numerous bids for its leasing arm, Asia Aviation Capital (AAC), and expects to sell off the unit next year. He added that these moves are part of the group’s plan “to streamline the business and dispose of non-core businesses”. Even with the US$1bil valuation being quoted in the market for AAC, Macquarie Equities Research (MQ Research) believes that AirAsia can fetch a higher sale price.
Event
MQ Research maintains their Outperform recommendation on AirAsia albeit a lower TP of RM4.00 (from RM4.65) as MQ Research incorporates lower yields in view of a weak economy and continued competition in the short-haul space. MQ Research believes there is upside risk from monetisation of its leasing entity, Asia Aviation Capital (AAC), which could drive a stock re-rating. MQ Research estimates AirAsia can fetch a higher valuation for AAC than the US$1bn being quoted in the market. The stock is trading at 6.8x 18E EV/EBITDAR vs its historical average of 8.4x.
Impact
Value lies in its order book.
MQ Research estimates the US$1bn quoted price tag for AAC implies 8.2x 18E PER, in the range of leasing peers’ 6.3-8.8x. MQ Research however derive a US$1.8bn (14.6x 18E PER) valuation for AAC, based on DCF valuation. MQ Research employed a DCF model as order book drives significant embedded value not captured in earnings- or asset-based models. Currently, MQ Research do not have a separate valuation for AAC in our AirAsia SOTP-based TP.
However, limited information on AAC orderbook.
The current orderbook currently resides with AirAsia and AirAsia would need to novate those purchase agreements to AAC. AAC currently has ~60 aircraft, leased mainly to AirAsia affiliates. A press article said that AAC will receive another 100 A320 aircraft, a figure that we used to derive our US$1.8bn valuation. A US$1bn valuation implies that AAC will receive only 50 aircraft. We will continue to monitor news development on this matter.
How do shareholders benefit?
A monetisation at US$1.8bn valuation will help to unlock value, as it implies a 14.6x 18E PER, higher than AirAsia’s 9.2x 18E PER. Cash proceeds from the monetisation can be paid out as a special dividend (50% payout = RM1.18/share special dividend) and/or early retire debt. AAC monetisation also reduces payment collection risk from associates, which was an issue in 2015, thus drive a multiple expansion for AirAsia. "

A confluence of negative bearing factors is probably the leading cause for AA downtrend over the last few months ie Brexit , Trump and Fed's impact and Malaysia's own internal political and economic issues. Fundamental wise, it appears that AA continues to improve both business and financially. Belief it or not Tony F's assessment of AA worth (rm6 or more ) few months ago is actually getting nearer to fulfillment !!! So what shall we do meanwhile.....I think is good time to review your basic conviction on why are you invested in AA. Try going thru Warren Buffett 's Ground Rules or similar writing. You may gain precious principles thats good for a lifetime of investment .

Sign of things to come for the Airline industry :
Airline stocks took off in early trading. American Airlines (AAL), Delta Air Lines (DAL) and United Continental (UAL) were all sharply higher this morning after Warren Buffett’s Berkshire Hathaway took stakes in the three airline carriers in the third quarter, according to an SEC filing. Separately, Buffett revealed in an interview with CNBC that he also made an investment in Southwest Airlines (LUV) in the fourth quarter. Berkshire’s investments in the airline industry come as a surprise because Buffett has stayed away from the sector for more than a quarter of a century.

CHING YEE CHOO, Nikkei staff writer
KUALA LUMPUR -- Budget carrier AirAsia says it is facing a shortage of aircraft for 2017,
as travel demand surges just about everywhere it flies.
==========================================
"We are advancing aircraft for 2017. We are short of aircraft for 2017 at the moment," group chief executive Tony Fernandes said on Thursday at a rollout ceremony for the airline's first Airbus A320neo jet. "Per my last estimate, we are short by about eight or nine aircraft."
Fernandes added that AirAsia, the largest budget airline in Malaysia, is still negotiating with Europe's Airbus. He suggested the shortage could be plugged either through the lease market or with forward deliveries of its orders.

The slew of greats news from Tony F continues and it consistently support his assessment that AAB is worth more than RM6 !!! ( and I dont think he will rest until the market comes round to it !)
The best news for the day regarding AAB is here and is great for Qtr3 and beyond !!! :
SEPANG (Sept 15): AirAsia Bhd is short of "eight to nine" aircraft until 2017 as it strives to meet market demand for its services by advancing aircraft deliveries, said the low cost carrier's founder Tan Sri Tony Fernandes.
In a reception ceremony for the airline's first Airbus A320neo, the AirAsia Group chief executive officer told the press that the group is likely to advance its aircraft orders to meet these demand.
"The demand is very strong, AirAsia is probably having its best growth in a lot of time. All of the countries that we operate in are reporting significant growth. Indonesia is doing fantastically well, having an 83% load factor (for second quarter ended June 30, 2016)," he said
"Malaysia will be having the highest load factor in the third quarter (of 2016), where we are having over 90%, and India and Thailand are also doing very well. So we are actually advancing, to take delivery of these aircraft much quicker than we originally planned," he added.
Fernandes also attributed the stronger potential growth in Asean's aviation industry to the implementation of Asean Open Skies agreement.
"We will definitely [continue to] fly to more countries in the region to make not only Asean but [also] Asia region a smaller [more connected] place," he said.
AirAsia today received its first A320neo aircraft, which comes with a 186-seating configuration and delivers up to 15% fuel savings.
This is the first of four scheduled deliveries of Airbus A320neo for AirAsia in 2016. There will be another 14 deliveries in 2017, according to the original schedule back in 2011......

Its amazing the speed of things happening at AAB ! . In June news/rumore of AAC sales broke out but initialy denied by AAB . In July AAB not only confirmed sales of AAC but is in the process of appointing bankers for the job. Now in Agust Tony announced the value of AAC at US1Billion.
Not surprising that the whole deal will be done way before year end ? That's Tony style.
At this same event Tony mention AAB's share is worth more than RM6 !!! I guess the bankers must have valued the entire AAB , beside AAC. RM6 is not that far fetch ..with qytly core earning in the RM500m range now and much more in future qtrs.

The Star and Dato K said it well and I think it is very goodnews overall..good for AAX and AAB !!!
KUALA LUMPUR: Long-haul budget carrier AirAsia X posted an operating profit of RM20.03mil in the second quarter ended June 30, 2016, a stark contrast from the near RM100mil losses a year ago as its load and average base fare increased and it benefited from lower oil prices.
Announcing the turnaround was AirAsia X group CEO Datuk Kamarudin Meranun, who said while the second quarter has historically been a lean quarter for the carrier, “we have managed to overcome all odds and record our first second quarter profit since inception”.
“We continue to see improvement across all segments. In 2Q16, Australia contributed the highest growth to Malaysia AirAsia X (MAAX) operations,” he said.
Kamarudin said revenue from Australia increased 56% on-year on the back of higher passenger traffic while average base fare improved 15% on-year.
Revenue from China grew 47% on-year while load factor improved 11 percentage points on-year to 82% and average base fare rose by 53% on-year.
“We believe this trend will remain for the remaining of the year as a result of the Malaysian Government initiative on visa waiver for Chinese travelling to Malaysia coupled with an increase in Fly-Thru traffic to our core markets with improved timing. The future for AAX Group will see us expanding to China and other core markets, in line with our strategy to build market dominance within the region.

Yap..no kidding guys..sit back and enjoy the fiery air show ..
"AirAsia Bhd., the region’s biggest discount carrier, agreed to buy 100 planes from Airbus Group SE to meet burgeoning travel demand on the continent.
The Sepang, Malaysia-based airline will buy A321neos in a deal valued at $12.6 billion based on list prices, the companies said Tuesday in a statement at the Farnborough Air Show outside London. Discounts are customary in the industry. The purchase brings AirAsia’s total orders for A320-series planes from the European manufacturer to 575 aircraft, Airbus said.
AirAsia, already the biggest single-aisle aircraft customer for Airbus, is increasing its bet that economic growth from India, China and Vietnam will spawn millions of new fliers in the world’s most populous continent. AirAsia Group Chief Executive Officer Tony Fernandes, 52, has built a pan-Asian budget airline that has grabbed market share from full-service carriers like Singapore Airlines Ltd. and Malaysia Airlines Ltd.
“The Asia Pacific is going to account for at least a third of all aircraft demand over the next 20 years” based on planemakers’ forecasts, said Simon Elsegood, an analyst at CAPA Centre for Aviation in Sydney. “There’s particularly strong demand for intra-regional connectivity in Southeast Asia and North Asia, and then there’s very, very strong demand within China itself for domestic flights.”
