While Tan Sri Tony Fernandes remains bullish about the prospects of his loss-making AirAsia X Bhd (AAX), one research house downgraded its rating on the long-haul, low-cost airline, giving it a target price of a mere 17 sen.

CIMB Research said its downgrade rating from “hold” to “reduce” was on the back of a more challenging outlook and continuing drain on AAX’s cash.

When contacted, Fernandes said AAX’s sales had “transformed” largely because the market had become more “rational”.

TF it seems to have lost his bearing.

My Revised Book Value after discounting on Losses in IAA & PAA (Equity + Irrecoverable Loans) is 68 sen.

I do not have the estimate figure on India AA.

To recover ... TF and AA have to return to its Original Business Model.

Outside Malaysia, competition is cut-throat business with very thin margin.
TF can bully the MAB....by delaying services and landing fees...noway in other countries.
Now AA is subsidising AAs out the country.... GMT queries have some validity...with abilities of other AA affiliates to Loans amounting exceeding USD1 billion.

AA WAS GREAT...until TF start creating IAA,PAA,AAX and now Indian AA.

Our price target is maintained at RM12.78/share for now, which is based on a 5-year average of 12.8x on CY16 earnings.

As MMSS been saying, until Tan Sir TF release the Projected Balance Sheet...it's just impossible to do a good valuation of AA Net Book Value.

HSBC said the performance of AirAsia's Philippine and Indonesian ventures had to significantly improve to attract any external funding in the near term.

Analysts have cut AirAsia's 2015 earnings estimates by nearly 6 percent on average since June 10, with 14 out of 22 brokers reducing estimates. The company's shares are down about 29 percent since June 9.

"We not only view AirAsia's recent updates on funding plans for associates (through convertible bonds and IPOs) with scepticism, but also argue claims of improving prospects are unvalidated," HSBC analysts said in a report dated June 22.

I will only start buying AA share when price drop to below 1.20 as per GMT valuation.
