In my humble opinion, it is depend how u value a business as valuation is more art than science. If you try valuing this stock using math concept, you might consider simplest valuation of its NTA which is RM2.00. Let just be simple and avoid those much calculation. Thus, at RM1.40, it make sense that this stock is undervalued, right?.

Look Air Asia when it price plunged till reach below RM1. Most people think it will be going to be like MAS. Until its price jump up til what you see today. During the worst time, most people think it is wortless to buy AA stock. People avoid good company that going short term trouble and keep looking for company that always perform well in market. Is AA really worth of its price now? Again if you based on science and those math calculation, then you'll found AA is way higher peice than its asset value.

But as i said earlier, valuation is more art than science. Try to think how much you want to buy this business if there is no crisis like today, say everything just going fine. No oil crisis and economy just perform well. Then i think you will buy at even higher price than RM2.

Just my 2cent.

Speculator = Trader go with trend. Earning surge > people comes buying > price surge > trend ceeated > they buy high and think to sell higher until the trapped on top of trend. While an investor against them. Buy when no one care about the stock.

Prediction = Speculative. It is the poison that killed many people on the wall street during dot com bubbles. Nowadays, those poison start to appear again. History keep repeated itself.

The differ between growth investing and value investing are those growth oriented investor really depend on future earning prediction of companies. They believes what past is past, and future matters. Value oriented investors tend to look the past performance to measure sustainibility of company. If the company cannot achive sustainibily in the past, how can they perform in future. They care the downside risk most of the time. Thus, IV is and MOS is top priority of value investor.

What makes you really comfident if it could goes down more until reach Rm1.00. Any strong point other than based on assuming and speculating? The reality is no one could predict what will happen to market tomorrow, after tomorrow, next week, or even next month. Those traders and speculators really want to buy at cheapest price, but either they buy and the price continue drop, then make nothing by cut loss or they just couldn't make it as the price making reversal just before they can buy it. "The individual investor should act consistently as an investor and not as a speculator." - Graham

What factor drives its fundamental changes? It is cyclical nature of commodity related business..up and down is part of the cyclical. I think we're already know what cause many oil companies to deteriorating. It is not big problem about their fundamental, the main problem lies over the whole sector. This company has strong past performance track record. Having experienced past oil crisis (before sapuracrest and kencana petroleum joint to form sapurakencana) and they have strong management team, high value asset, and good economic moat. Debt level although high, it still the lowest among its competitor. Moreover, it is common for oil companies to have high level of debt. If you compare to average debt of industries, this company is not bad at all.

Seadrill? Are you kidding? How can it be the winner if he sold for nothing. The winner is determine who buy at low and able to sell at high, not who cut loss early.

I love how value investing works.. We buy against the market and we are going to win over market. Why must worry of short term lose when you can be the winner over long term. Let crowd push lower and try to accumulate as much as you can, and lastly be patience forr sometimes, for sure market will reward you.

Market is always driven by human psychology. The price is set up by human emotion. As an investor, well you should know how to differentiate between opportunity and risk, to accumulate good stock when the opportunity is there and the stock become undervalued. But the main problem for many investor at this time, you have to be contrarian and buy against herd where the herd always think they are right. This is the hard part for value investor. Afterall, what comes down will comes up. Thats how market cycle works. So if this stock is going to south even if it is going to be like Armada, i will continue to accumulate cheap and hold it till the cycle turn back again and get reward by the market. The art of value investing is really great and fun for me.
