The prices for both mother and warrant were stagnant at 1.55 and 65 sen respectively. Say you buy 10 lots of mother at 1.55 which is RM15,500. For the same amount you can buy 24 lots of the warrant at 65 sen.

Let's assume you sell both at the highest point reach.
For mother it's 1.66 or RM16,600 giving you a gain of RM 1,100 or 7%
For son, it's 0.77 or or RM 18,480 giving you a gain of 2,980 or 19.2%.

Same amount of capital outlay but the son gives you so much higher profits.

Of course when the prices are down, buying the son will lose more but this is an exceptional case where the mother price is supported by the MGO price of 1.55. Thus the downside risk is very negligible.

Hi OTB - how are you getting on. I totally agree with your opinion on Encorp WA. I was too late to catch it when it was re-listed but collected some at about the 65 sen level. I expect to go back to its pre-announcement level even though the mother share does not move.

chatter - look at Encorp WA's performance for trading. The mother will not move much unless there are changes in the MGO. I have added some today at 65.5.

chatter - actually there is no reason for Encorp WA to go down once the MGP announcement is made as the priced as been factored in by the market itself before the announcement. . But for MGO purposes there is no reason to offer a premium as the conversion price is RM1. I reckon it will soon find its level back at the 70 sen level and from there will move in tandem with the mother share.

tj - see my posting below. If we think that the mother can go up, the percentage gain in buying the warrant will surely be higher. That's my rationale.


I am amazed at why people are selling Encorp WA at below 60 sen this morning. I didn't expect it go below 60. Based on the offer of RM1.55 it's well below what it is worth. If the price can go to 1.80 the warrant should be at about the 85 sen level at least. (Look at OTB's posting also in Encorp thread)

Based on the current prices at this moment, the premium is a mere 6.5%. I would opt to go for the warrant for the simple reason that if the mother sahre touches 1.80 one makes 25 sen or 16% gain. However the warrant may rise to 85 (at least) to yield a gain of 30%.

chatter - Encorp WA at 65 sen should be quite safe unless the deal falls through and the price drops back on initial reaction. However the price is supported by strong earning s and a low PE.

Sometimes you have to watch the screen. At that time. Only 9 lots was doen at 0.56 sen (closed 57.5 yesterday). The buy / sell code was 56 / 59 (10 lots only). Then suddenly 1,000 lots at 58 sen came out as buyer. I quickly grabbed the 10 lots of 59 and it only started moving after a while.
