Split usually may result in price increase as well - as the price drops - the shares become more liquid and may be traded more frequently causing more price shifts. And as we all know - lower prices tend to result in higher yield because you know - lower prices equals higher impact.

Case in point:
A stock at RM10 - even if price increase RM0.50 - only gain 5%
A stock at RM1 - if price increase RM0.50 - the gain is 50%

Usually stock splits are good news :) To me anyway.

chong5126: Shares split.. If assuming 1 1:5 split then the no. of shares and the price will remain the same for the owner. Meaning to say 1000 shares, after split becomes 5000 shares - but then the price will also be divided by 5: 1.7 / 5 = 0.34

Share split is mainly to reduce the share price and to allow much more players to enter the market. (Increase the liquidity of the stock)

sanchez - Agreed. Lower ringgit is good for Inari as well as all exporters but not for Rakyat. Hahaha.

Price drop imminent - selling pressure is too high as the US Tapering may be announced in a few days.

Investor pressure also happened in that the CFO made a blunder but the company is still strong.
