Mark my words.....The construction theme will bouy Gadang's share price but there is a catch. That Gadang must improve its bottom line. Less than $1M PBT is unacceptable for this construction giant. It's cost structure is simply too big to pick up measly small jobs. If Gadang can maintain at least 50% of its pre Covid 19 PBT, then Gadang share price will surge upwards. Hopefully, with a slew of new construction jobs on the offering, Gadang will win a few with its competitive bids.

Anyway, Gadang already secured a few footholds in Bandar Malaysia and ECRL projects. Hopefully, these serves as a precursor to something big down the road.

The government may introduce a windfall tax on economic sectors which have reaped huge profits during the COVID-19 pandemic, under Budget 2021.

Maybank Kim Eng said a windfall tax was not unusual as there was a precedent during the Asian Financial Crisis in 1998.

Please remember government has no money....besides windfall tax GST is on the table.

Actually, Tan Sri is a very capable businessman...evident from how he grows the utility business in Indonesia in a few short years...next on the radar is the piling business in Singapore ...hopefully, they are able to emulate the success of Pintaras Jaya...the founder of Pintaras Jaya works in Bridgecon construction..the same place where KokOnn started his career.

When we compare btw Q1FY21 vs Q1FY20 (pre-Covid19), the revenue from progress billings is lower indicating that the work in progress from Construction is slower. Maybe the Covid19 has severely disrupted the supply chain, resulting in inefficiency in work flow, harder to procure construction materials and workers displacement. All this leads to higher overheads resulting in margin compression.

Probably, a more reasonable comparison is to compare btw Q4FY20 Vs Q1FY21. By virtue of net profit before tax, it seems Gadang is slowly picking itself back up.

If we compare Vs Q1FY20, this is unreasonable because it is pre_covid 19 level.

I second that.... Icon city, proximity to Batu Kawan, IKEA, university of Hull-KDU, etc and the proposed building of a new hospital complex will spill over to Tambun Indah.

I love the management's technic of buying huge tracts of land on the cheap and then, slowly develop the land and unlocked its value. Tambun has a margin of close to 40%.

Unlike other developers who expand aggressively and when faced with the double whammy of a poor property market and Covid19, Tambun has been slow and steady ...scaling back their operations and continue to give out good dividends and not resorting to rights issue.

When the share price has been bashed down so badly, the bosses are actively engaging in shares buyback indicating the confidence they have in their own company.
