Libya's El Feel oil field shut down, third site within days

(Reuters) - An oil field in southwest Libya has closed down, officials said on Sunday, becoming the third oil facility in the chaotic country to shut within a week.

The El Feel field, operated by Libya's National Oil Corporation (NOC) and Italy's ENI, shut down due to a power outage after armed men forced the closure of the major El Sharara field in south Libya last Wednesday, an NOC spokesman said.

Caspian Pipeline plans to boost oil exports by 20 pct in November
Nov 7 (Reuters) - Russian and Kazakh oil exports via the Caspian Pipeline Consortium (CPC) are set to increase by 20 percent in November from the previous month, a preliminary schedule showed on Friday.

The schedule, seen by Reuters, showed loadings carried from Kazakhstan's Caspian Sea oil deposits to Russia's Black Sea port of Novorossiisk may rise to 3.604 million tonnes (949,053 barrels per day) this month from 3.096 million in October.

The oil flows will be boosted thanks to planned maintenance at the pipeline on Oct. 21-23 and at an oil treatment plant.

Although it traverses Russia and was developed in conjunction with the Russian government, the pipeline was the first to give the Caspian Sea region and Kazakhstan a viable alternative to Russian-dominated northern export routes.

ov 7 (Reuters) - Energy companies reduced the number of rigs drilling for oil in the United States to a fresh three-month low, shifting more rigs in favor of natural gas as crude prices dive and gas prices soar, data showed on Friday.

The number of rigs drilling for oil fell by 14 to 1,568 in the latest week, down for five out of the past seven weeks, according to data from oil services firm Baker Hughes on Friday. A year ago, there were 1,383 rigs drilling for oil.

Gas rigs meanwhile rose by 10, up for a fourth week in a row, to 356 rigs, the highest in 10 months, the Baker Hughes data show. A year ago, there were 365 rigs drilling for gas.

Analysts however said a few weeks of less oil and more gas rigs does not make a pattern.

"The recent rise in gas prices is not the type of sustained recovery that will cause producers to revisit their capital budgets," said Teri Viswanath, director of commodity strategy for natural gas at BNP Paribas in New York.

US rig count down 4 to 1,925
HOUSTON (AP) – Oilfield services company Baker Hughes Inc. says the number of rigs exploring for oil and natural gas in the U.S. declined by four this week to 1,925.

The Houston firm said Friday in its weekly report that 1,568 rigs were exploring for oil and 356 for gas. One was listed as miscellaneous. A year ago there were 1,754 active rigs.

Of the major oil- and gas-producing states, Texas gained five rigs, Kansas increased two and North Dakota and Pennsylvania were up one each.

New Mexico lost four, Louisiana and West Virginia each dropped three and Alaska, Ohio and Utah declined by one apiece.

Arkansas, California, Colorado, Oklahoma and Wyoming were unchanged.

The U.S. rig count peaked at 4,530 in 1981 and bottomed at 488 in 1999.

Last year, ...different event. This year event is different. Therefore, I won't compare both. I will look at the technical chart ... more toward human and market sentiment. Based on buyers, sellers, volume, and price, the technical chart is just pointing the direction where Sumatec's share price is heading.

If the guru here can predict and know where the future price will be, I/WE WON'T BE HERE. I will be having a holiday on an island with lots of NoManLand's species.

YkJohn11, my average is 0.5486(was 0.5978), thousand plus of lots and most probably will place it in the freezer until break even or profit in very near future. My crystal ball is a little bit blurred. I am still buying to lower down the average (don't follow me). Question am I continue buying? If the price go lower, yes. If the price goes up, that is the question I cannot answer.

I hope you have strong discipline on investment.

KUALA LUMPUR: Sumatec Resources Bhd plans to raise half the amount it needs to pay for two new assets worth US$250mil (RM794mil) it is proposing to buy in Kazakhstan via a rights issue and the rest through an issuance of shares.

Though it is a PN17 company, Sumatec wants to tap the capital markets for funds and expects the rights to be issued before the year is out.

All that is dependent on how fast it can enter into a sale and purchase agreement with the two asset owners, though Sumatec chief executive officer Chris Dalton told reporters yesterday that he expected a deal to be concluded before year’s end. The due diligence is under way.

Last week, Sumatec said it had entered into a framework agreement with Abu Talib Abdul Rahman and Dr Murat Safin to buy the entire equity interest in Borneo Energy Oil and Gas Ltd for US$250mil, which in turn has rights over Bazachi Neft LLP, which is an independent upstream oil and gas company involved in the exploration, production and trading of oil and natural gas. Sumatec is a service provider in the downstream sector of the oil and gas industry.

Buzachi currently has two 25-year subsoil use contracts, valid till November 2026, for the exploration and production of oil and gas in Karaturun Vostochnyi and Karaturun Morskoi fields (Buzachi fields).

Old men rise again

Did you hear about Halim Saad and his lawyer Abdul Rashid Manaf teaming up to buy over a 30 per cent stake in CN Asia Bhd? You heard right. The deal's going down next week, I was told.

If all goes as planned CN Asia will become the second national oil company with focus on overseas assets.

Halim is on a hot streak, having helped Sumatec Resources become the first PN17 firm to have a RM1bil market capitalisation while Rashid Manaf took over Focal Aims Bhd in preparation to help Tan Sri Liew knockout the salarymen at PNB and SP Setia.

Both Halim and Rash Manaf are veterans. Instead of taking it easy in their twilight years, these old guards have become flag carriers (again).

Question is, where are the young guns?
