RHB Research said a targeted fuel subsidy mechanism will likely take centre stage in the government's efforts to reduce the subsidy bill in the 2015 Budget.
"This new mechanism will segregate the subsidy on RON95 petrol and diesel based on individual income of users instead of the current blanket subsidy," it said.
The research house added while the targeted fuel subsidy scheme could be announced in the budget, the implementation is expected to be carried out in January 2015 instead.
