What's on? Someone taking over?

I would rather avoid banks and other finance counters for the moment. The subsidy cuts, high cost of living, price increase, and toll rates will have an impact on the man in the street. I foresee loan and credit card defaults to increase, a weaker ringgit, lower savings available and bank interest rate to rise within the first half of the year. Add this to the fact that foreign investors has left the local market and the stringent curbs on property purchases by foreigners, what do you have? The market is now mainly supported by local institutions and how long can they support? A friendly advice. Do not speculate and keep only good dividend paying counters. Margin financing is a big NO.

It's the lowest since Dec 2011. Something definitely not right. Care to make a guess?

Good counter. Just given bonus 1:1 in December. Grab the chance to accumulate at below 2.80. EPS 65sen NTA 3.39. Pre bonus issue price was at RM6.20. What more do you expect?

Slow and steady. Won't be surprised if it hit RM8 before CNY.

PMCorp is holding steady at 0.24. There was no trading at all for the first one and a half hours today. If the stock is loosing strength, we would have already seen a drastic price drop not just a miserable half a sen drop. Notice that there was huge trading of 3 x 100,000 shares @0.235 within a period of 10 minutes.

Looks like swingtrader has "invaded" this thread with all sorts of negative comments. From his comments, I would say it has no substance at all. All humbug. To serious players, don't let sharks steal your dream away.

The proposed capital recon and cash payment was not given in writing. So, if that does not happen, the company would just stay silent. Not necessary to announce it. So, I don't see a knee jerk reaction, maybe a gradual sell down by short term investors.

Everyone is so impatient in asking for the cash payout. Ask yourself what action would you take after Capital Recon and Cash Payout if ever there is one? Are you going to sell all your shares or would you hold until when? One must be very sure of one's answer or else you would be like a boat without a rudder. Do your homework. There is still time.

There is something strange with the price lately. There is no fluctuations at all. Someone appears to be picking up a lot at the present 26-26.5sen. Mmmm...I wonder who?

Stock

Mok4444. Look at it this way. There is no way the company is insolvent. It has very little liabilities and a huge pool of cash and assets. If you were KKP what would you do? Close shop and distribute whatever is left in the company to the shareholders or inject fresh talents into the company to uplift it to its former glory, given the fact that its Tudor chocs appear to be readily accepted. For me, I would pick choice No.2. Put aside the past. At least there is a chance to pick up the pieces and start afresh even though it may take some time. We know very well that the NTA is more than the share price of 26sen. Any comments?

Before committing myself to any counter I use my common sense to select them. I am no FA but using layman reasoning I am almost correct most of the time. There are basically 3 major risks in any company i.e. Management risk, Operation risk and Financial risk. Management risk involves people who are running the show. Are they sincere? Any bad track record? Their vision and mission? Next, operation risk. Are their produce easily marketable? Where are their markets - local or international? How do they compare to their competitors? Do they have any backup plan? and next, financial risk. I will look at their borrowings. It should not be more than their cash reserve. The lesser borrowings the better. Next, are their trade receivables more than their trade payables. This will indicate their ability to manage their cashflow. What proportion of their capital goes into generating income. How many shares are their floating in the stock market? Too many or too little is no good. Finally, I will look at financial indicators like the SMAs, Bollinger Bands and Stochastic to identify the correct timing. Always follow this maxim - Buy when others sell, and Sell when others buy. You cannot be wrong.

Before going on a mission, first prepare 2 coffins. One for your enemy and the other for yourself. Investing in shares is just like going for a mission. Ask yourself one question. Can you afford to lose all your invested money? If you cannot, stay out.

Remember the Pan El crisis way back in 1987 where EPF lost RM10billion? It shook the whole economy and the Stock Market. With EPF investing in an array of investments both local and foreign, just be careful with your investments. Be prudent and take profit each time your target is met. Don't be too greedy. I was there to witness it in1987. Just a friendly advice.

It was autumn, and the Red Indians asked their New Chief if the winter was going to be cold or mild. Since he was a Red Indian chief in a modern society, he couldn't tell what the weather was going to be.

Nevertheless, to be on the safe side, he replied to his Tribe that the winter was indeed going to be cold and that the members of the village should collect wood to be prepared.

But also being a practical leader, after several days he got an idea. He went to the phone booth, called the National Weather Service and asked 'Is the coming winter going to be cold?'

'It looks like this winter is going to be quite cold indeed,' the weather man responded.

So the Chief went back to his people and told them to collect even more wood. A week later, he called the National Weather Service again. 'Is it going to be a very cold winter?'

'Yes,' the man at National Weather Service again replied, 'It's definitely going to be a very cold winter.'

The Chief again went back to his people and ordered them to collect every scrap of wood they could find.

Two weeks later, he called the National Weather Service again.

'Are you absolutely sure that the winter is going to be very cold?' 'Absolutely,' The man replied. 'It's going to be one of the coldest winters ever.'

'How can you be so sure?' the Chief asked.

The weatherman replied, 'The Red Indians are collecting wood like crazy.'

This is how stock markets work!

To Jie Sheng Lim. Good question. Why borrow when you have ample? Take a look at the previous year's loan amount. It was about RM14m. They made a repayment of RM8.930m that year, bringing the loan figure down to RM5.2m. What does this RM5.2m constitute? Revolving loan? Bank facilities are used to facilitate business transactions just like LCs and BAs not that they need it for other purposes. Moreover, I think this is an old borrowing. I do not see any new bank borrowings from their cash flow statement. Do you?

Buy in gloom, sell in boom - this is stock trading 101. Go for good dividend paying shares (those counters paying consistent dividends higher than the Bank's FD rate). At least, if prices decline, you still have your dividends go live on. Before committing, always test water with one foot first.

For example, a bankrupt company may want to dispose off the remaining assets. A valuation is required. The figure taken in the balance sheet is based on the last valuation which may be a few years ago. Its value may have appreciated. So, the NTA is used only for account evaluation. In real life, it may differ.

I have been following the interesting comments in this thread for the past 2 weeks. I am baffled that most of the comments are laughable considering the fact that everyone wants a firm "sure to win" sort of answer. Dabbling in shares means that you immerse yourself entirely into RISK. Ask yourself just one question. Can you afford to lose all your investment? If you cannot, then get out quick. Dabbling in stocks is not for the faint heart. I am no professional fund manager or investment guru but I think this penny stock (PM Corp) can be considered a good investment. The share price is 21 sen whilst its nominal value is 50 sen. NTA 44 sen and with accumulated cash deposit RM93 million. Gearing is less than 0.5% and liabilities is less than 5% of its share capital. Recently, the company made a huge loan repayment thus putting the company on a better footing. 1000 shares cost just RM210. What is the big deal? Your spending on a weekend shopping would easily exceed this amount. I base my instinct on direct interpretation of the accounts presented. If you are not comfortable, go on cost average method. Just buy one lot every week. Remember, do not expect quick returns. This is a good investment for the longer term.

If we were to calculate from a mathematically point of view we will definitely get a variance from the actual outcome because it's all about market sentiments and also correct timing. Take the recent case of Eastland, many people got burnt!! Hope you are not one of them. Follow your game plan and don't blame others if the outcome is not what you expected.

kcchongnz increased liquidity through bonus issue? I say it is not so. It is increasing the amount of shares in the market so that more people can buy the share and let sentiments dictate its pricing. More shares in the market means more leeway for the price to move. Remember the story about owning Genting Bhd share when it started years ago. How much would you have made now if you had owned 1 lot then?

Their FY Net Profit ending 30 April 2013 was RM32.08 million (up 47.55%), Low PE of 10.22 and high EPS 40.11 its performance looks superb. With distributable retained earnings of RM122 million against a Paid Up Capital of RM80 million, it can well afford to declare a 1 for 1 bonus. Personally, my benchmark for shares are low PE of 10 and below and EPS of minimum 20 before I ever consider taking a look at their financial account.
