Top Glove and its Malaysian peers fell about 5% to 10% today after President Vladimir Putin said Russia cleared the world’s first Covid-19 vaccine for use and Moderna Inc reached a deal with the Trump administration to supply its own experimental vaccine to the US.

Megat Fais is not concerned by such blips, noting that the lead time on orders to Asian glove makers has lengthened to about 12 months from pre-Covid levels of one to two months.

“Even with a vaccine, a structural step-up in glove usage is on the cards as the pandemic may well accelerate the narrowing of the gap between emerging-market and developed-market glove consumption,” he wrote.

Rising profits expected for Supermax in 1QFY21

Despite Supermax Corp Bhd hitting record sales and margins in 4QFY20, RHB expects the glove producer's net profit in the first quarter of FY21 to rise even higher quarter-on-quarter.

According to Supermax, average selling prices (ASP) are expected to be even higher in the coming quarter.

"The company was also optimistic that its own brand manufacturer cum distribution business model would exhibit even healthier performances in the coming quarters," said RHB.

Despite the share price climbing all the way to $4.21 closing today (almost 5x), expectations were high going into the results. Yet, Riverstone delivered on all cylinders, Revenue, Net Profit, Dividend & Cash balance. I was worried Riverstone would not be as aggressive in raising ASP due to the business ethics and valuing of long term client relationship like Hartalega may cause results to come slightly below expectations. However, the fact shown, Q2 was an extremely strong set of results. This will serve as a strong indicator to other glove players.
