Analysts cautioned that FGV is going on a buying spree n dont know d meaning of "Prudent" as it need to conserve cash for replanting programme.Worst performing stock in Bursa Malaysia n something for management to ponder. They hv to revamp its management in operations by infusing new talent (but talent leaving d country) to make wise investment decisions. The bearish palm oil prices in not an excuse. If you ask Ring, I was in d industry for 40yrs...if I am d MD i will tell d managers for a start I want all d estate mgrs to increase d yield by one mt for a start. Auditors instead of sitting in d office doing paper work they shd go n do field audit by using HD Video camera n flash d field condition. They shd select one estate n go for field supervision for one full year n set an example that yield can be improved.I read once in d newspaper that UP refuse to venture outside peninsular as the top management wont be able to conduct full field supervision. During my time there was less paper work but purely on field supervision by "orang putih"..our ppl believe in a lot talking n not worthy paperwork...can we change n think like the whitemen.

Extract from Focus: " Dilema of falling oil prices"..If we put squarely d fact of d falling prices by 40% n this being d unusual phenomenon n being welcomed by worlds largest economies..US, Japan,China n India, cheaper energy to fuel their industries n economies so d story goes a healthy growth. This is a boon to global economic growth.US consumers r laughing which coincides d peak shopping season will soon bring a greater cheer in d form of Santa Claus for Xmas present for all.Pump price in June now a saving by 630 million daily. Saving on groceries n other staples hence causing good economic growth by pulling up consumption an important of growth to boost airline savings in millions which will boost tourism via cheaper air travel. US is still d net importer of energy. The president of d Federal Reserve of Bank of New York says that falling energy price is beneficial for their economy n should be a strong spur to consumer spending. Falling prices would inject a much needed boost for ailing economies in Europe n Japan n decelerating economy in China. But d dilema in falling prices on d other half of d story which affects mainly emerging economies which r net exporters of oil or very dependant on oil revenues to finance to finance d growth of their economies.Plunging oil price is hurting d Ringgit n SD n USD is soaring.Supporting both story lines of d monetary fund there will be winners n loosers but on a net basis its good news for d world global economy. Because of cheap energy India is coming from d currency deficit n their rupee is appreciating. By view end of d day Arabs cannot fight d jews.During d Opec meeting Saudi says they hv cash reserve for two months well one month is over n soon they may surrender to US n cut production otherwise ppl may create chaos in d Arab world.

However, with oil prices hovering near multiyear lows, the question of whether OPEC should act remains a challenging one for the group whose members rely on high oil prices for their budgetary needs. Many would like to see oil back at $100 a barrel.

That price is “good for all of us: for markets, for states, for investors, for consumers,” Angola’s Oil Minister Jose Maria Botelho de Vasconcelos told reporters upon his arrival in Vienna.

As for crude oil price, MIDF Research expects Brent crude oil price to average between US$75 to US$85 per barrel next year.

For the O&G industry outlook, the research firm is positive on O&G companies which have strong orderbooks, diversified sources of income and long burn rates.

MIDF Research explained that companies with strong orderbooks and long burn rates would be resilient against volatile fluctuations in industry sentiments, crude oil prices and during periods of new contracts scarcity.

Besides that, the research firm also favoured O&G service providers with well diversified sources of income and companies with local contracts......Extract from Borneo Post

Mergers and acquisitions to rule O&G industry next year
by Adrian Lim, adrianlim@theborneopost.com. Posted on December 4, 2014, Thursday

KUCHING: The year 2015 could be a year of mergers and acquisitions (M&A) within the local oil and gas (O&G) services industry.

The research arm of MIDF Amanah Investment Bank Bhd (MIDF Research) in a report said the industry could witness some small service providers merging among themselves or with the larger O&G players.

Outlining a few reasons, the research firm observed the rationale for the M&A could be to offer more holistic services and products offerings, better compete with regional service providers as well as to protect their profitability margins.

Additionally, MIDF Research believes 2015 could also turn out to be a year of increased acquisition activities of O&G assets such as offshore hydrocarbon fields.

It noted the reason which could drive asset acquisitions is the rationalisation of valuations.

“Lower oil prices are likely to have a significant impact on its operations, and it looks to us like there will need to be some belt-tightening. Nevertheless, some fields in Malaysia are very low cost, at well below US$50 (RM172.40) per barrel. Therefore, lower oil prices don’t necessarily mean companies in the sector will be unprofitable,” he added.......@Ring so what is Suma cost/barrel????

In the meantime, MIDF Research expects local oil and gas activities to remain robust based on current oil production which is still below 600,000 barrels per day (kbpd) despite the weakness in global crude oil prices.

The research firm observed the latest average oil production rate for Malaysia is at 580 kbpd.

Thus, MIDF Research expects offshore production activities to continue to be robust, benefiting offshore service providers.

Similarly, the research firm said offshore support vessel (OSV) operators are confident that charter rates will remain firm at US$1.85 to US$2 per brake horsepower while offshore engineering and services providers noted tenders are still being called.
