Sedania’s ESPL secures trademark registration in EU countries

KUALA LUMPUR (Aug 4): Sedania Innovator Bhd’s associate company Esports Pty Ltd (ESPL) has secured trademark registration in European Union (EU) countries.

In a statement today, Sedania, which is an innovative technology solutions group, said the exercise is crucial in protecting the registration of intellectual property in all EU nations.

“With the initiated exercise, ESPL is strengthening its position as a key player in the eSports ecosystem in the region.

“ESPL’s network has access to a global audience of over 91 million with strategic partners across 16 countries and serving five regions, including the Middle East and North Africa, Europe, South Asia, Latin America, and Southeast Asia,” it said.

Sedania's founder and managing director Datuk Azrin Mohd Noor said the ESPL trademark registration is part of its strategic move for market expansion.

“With this, ESPL is establishing its commercial presence in EU countries,” he said.

Industry experts have predicted that eSports is expected to continue growing rapidly over the next five years.

It is projected to reach US$1.6 billion in revenue by 2023, while a report from global provider of games and eSports analytics Newzoo stated that eSports audience will grow to over 645 million globally by 2023.

Azrin believes that the numbers will continue to proliferate and is confident that ESPL will continue to grow its brand presence in the right direction.

“Our effort in obtaining the trademark registration in all EU countries is one of the key strategic steps in protecting our global brand internationally.

“It is important for ESPL to uniquely distinguish ourselves and at the same time, safeguard the interest of our growing number of users,” he said.

KUALA LUMPUR: Industronics Bhd has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) for the proposed acquisition of a stake in Hong Kong’s Bluemont.

Industronics said in a statement that it entered the MoU with Bluemont and Li Hok Yin, a shareholder of the company, to discuss the details of the proposed acquisition.

Bluemont was founded in 2016 with a current issued share capital of HK$23mil (RM12.2mil).

According to the statement, Bluemont offers comprehensive financial services with securities brokerage, asset management, credit services, capital financing and commodities.

“We are extremely delighted to have this opportunity to acquire a stake in Bluemont. We see it as a very strategic addition to Industronics.

“As a licensed entity, Bluemont has access to the attractive securities, asset management and money lending businesses in Hong Kong, ” said Industronics general manager Lee Chee Cheng.

Lee said the assimilation of Bluemount’s expertise could pivot the group towards the fintech segment.

“We have strong conviction that the future of finance is technology-driven and as such, fintech is definitely the direction that we are pursuing, moving forward, and we see ourselves playing a key role in the revolution of financial services industry, ” he added.

Meanwhile, Bluemount has an e-commerce plaform, ECHK Mall, which offers synergies with Industronics’ own e-commerce business.

According to Lee, Bluemount could be considering options to go public by listing on a South-East Asian market in the near to mid term.

Techfast bags RM2.2b contract to supply marine fuel oils

KUALA LUMPUR (March 15): ACE market-listed Techfast Holdings Bhd has bagged a contract worth an estimated RM2.2 billion to supply a range of marine fuel oils over a three-year period to Singapore-based integrated marine fuel logistics provider Wise Marine Pte Ltd.

Techfast’s unit Fast Energy Sdn Bhd (FESB) has inked a supply agreement with Wise Marine for the contract, which includes the supply of low sulphur fuel oil, low sulphur marine gasoil and high sulphur fuel oil, it said in a statement today.

Under the agreement, FESB shall supply 10,000 to 30,000 metric tonnes (MT) of marine fuel oil per month, bringing the full-year total supply to up to 360,000 MT.

It said the contract value was derived based on monthly delivery of 30,000 MT and using the current average selling price of low sulphur fuel oil of approximately US$500 (RM2,056) per MT as reported by S&P Global Platts in Singapore.

In a statement, Techfast executive director Vincent Tan Wye Chuan said the project will expand the group’s revenue streams and is expected to contribute positively to the group’s financial performance over the next three years.

“The group’s financial standing will also be enhanced with the completion of our recently announced proposed private placement exercise of 75.3 million new shares at an issue price of 37.5 sen, which will raise gross proceeds of RM28.2 million.

"This will enhance our financial capabilities to undertake this project,” Tan said.

He added that currently, there is port congestion at Port Klang as well as other major ports in Malaysia as a result of an increased number of vessels arriving at the ports.

"With this new contract, we are well positioned to ride the demand surge and post-pandemic recovery of the O&G (oil and gas) industry. O&G activities are expected to ramp up this year with increased demand for oil, driven by more economies opening up as governments implement mass Covid-19 vaccination programmes.

"We anticipate marine fuel prices to rise following the return of Brent crude oil prices to pre-pandemic levels, which are now trading at the US$60-US$70 per barrel range. This bodes well for the continued expansion of our new oil bunkering business.”

The contract is expected to commence in the second quarter of 2021.

Techfast was last traded at 51 sen, valuing it at RM127.99 million.
