SINGAPORE (Nov 15): Casino operator Genting Singapore has staged a strong sequential recovery between 2Q and 3Q ended Sept 30, as lockdown measures were eased somewhat.

In a quarterly business update on Nov 14, the company, which operates Resorts World Sentosa reported earnings of nearly S$54.5 million for 3Q, compared to losses of S$163.3 million in the preceding quarter ended June 30.

....plus its property, fair value should be above RM2 in next 2-3 years.

Despite a muted outlook for the property sector, she still likes Mah Sing as she expects its recent venture into gloves manufacturing to boost its earnings significantly in FY21. KUALA LUMPUR: Hartalega Holdings Bhd says demand for rubber gloves won’t be affected by vaccines for the Covid-19 coronavirus and will continue to outstrip supply in the next three to four years.

The pandemic has changed users’ behavior, that has resulted in the demand for gloves, chairman Kuan Kam Hon told reporters. Demand for usage in developed countries have increased 30% while in developing countries, usage has more than doubled, he says.

The industry cannot meet the 120b of additional demand for gloves. This demand can only be fulfilled in three years, he adds.

Spot prices for gloves have jumped 30% this quarter and he expects them to increase 40-50% in coming quarters, he says.

Glove prices are now three times higher compared to those during pre-covid-19.

Hartalega earmarked RM1.5bil investment to build four plants, of which first two lines will be operational by October 2021.

The RM15 billion allocation next year for rail and road projects would indirectly benefit the property sector, says Mah Sing Group Bhd founder and group managing director, Tan Sri Leong Hoy Kum.

The government's allocation comes under Budget 2021 announced today for projects such as the Gemas-Johor Bahru electrified double-track, Pan Borneo Highway, Klang Valley double-track Phase 1, Johor Bahru-Singapore Rapid Transit System, and Klang Valley's Mass Rapid Transit Line 3.

Leong said Mah Sing stands to benefit a great deal from the allocation as several of the group's property developments are located nearby some of these rail and road projects.

"The allocation (by the government) would help to improve the location's attractiveness and desirability to live," Leong said.

Builders including Gamuda Bhd. and IJM Corp. stand to gain.
