ofkos will have some drop on monday, but part of the wider market. fundamentally the HSR and LRT3 PDP should be safe as its infra project for the rakyat benefit, plus done on open tender, plus controlled by EPF. If anything i say its the ECRL project that's at risk, and MRCB not involved there oso. i suggest buy on weakness

you guys shouldn't confuse correlation with causation ler...its so obvious most counters down due to MACRO event, and not anything fundamentally wrong with the counter also. And this MACRO event is overshadowing any boost from the GE14 macro event in our own kampung

So yes, prices dropped as you predicted happy trader, but its not due to your foresight or skillful analysis or anything...don't kid yourself

http://www.focusmalaysia.my/Markets/sunway-wb-comes-with-step-down-pricing-mechanism

Some key quotes for sharing:

"A peculiar feature of SUNWAY-WB is that the exercise price would be adjusted downwards by 7 sen every year until expiration. The current exercise price is RM1.86."

"The warrant will thereafter be subject to a fixed annual step-down of 7 sen on each of the anniversary dates from the date of issuance. By the end of the seventh year, SUNWAY-WB’s exercise price would be RM1.44."

"According to the circular to shareholders for its bonus issue, one of the key strategic initiatives going forward is for the group to grow its healthcare business to become the top healthcare provider in the country."

@RJ87, your question is answered here: http://www.thestar.com.my/business/business-news/2017/05/22/press-metal-likely-to-do-well-with-cost-saving-measures-higher-prices/

Earnings at Press Metal Bhd, one of the biggest aluminium producers in the region, is projected to reach a new high this year on cost saving measures and higher product prices, analysts said, even as the company’s smelters in Sarawak ~~are already running at full capacity~~.

This means that any future profit increase has to come from cost savings or efficiency improvements, not increasing production volume

agree with micky92, a large part of their biz model is to develop commercial prop and then sell it once tenanted, so of course they need to sell lah. You make a product, you sell the product

i went to their agm and egm before, the mgmt always stresses that their biz model is to develop, fully tenant out, then sell buildings - that is their product lifecycle regardless they build residential or commercial...

so i dunno why some of you still like to complain that their profit each Q is from selling commercial buildings, thats their modus operandi mah! if they were to build, tenant out, and maintain forever, the quarterly margins even lower. But the asset list will look impressive on paper only, no cash profit coming in. No value for shareholder oso right?

Don't draw connections between unrelated matter la...QR result good/bad has nothing to do with announcement date. Trying to connect the two is like saying if you submit your tax filing on the last day, means you trying to cheat the govt, true or not?

To me it makes sense they wait till today, since already got EGM planned, all the board member and media already gathering in 1 place, might as well announce QR on the same day.

Separate events will incur separate cost which impacts bottomline (not much but still impact)...would you prefer they do that?

shinningstar, he means that you are only paying rm1.18 for a company that owns:
-cash and cash equivalent RM 1.21
- an instant profit of RM 0.35
-Nagasutra villa, Bali F.O.C
-40% MAA General Insurance, Philippines F.O.C
-48% Columbus Capital, Australia, F.O.C
-Pusat Tuisyen Kasturi, F.O.C

Meaning that the money you paid is not even matching the amount of cash within MAA. So all other assets under them basically coming free of charge (FOC) la

Stock

2016-07-07 11:06 | Report Abuse

lsy, PN17 simply means they don't have a core business at the moment. MAA clearly has the cash from the sale to give out as dividends, and even then they are not giving out all

So no, it is not possible that MAA can't pay the dividend or will go bankrupt after payout - they already allocate money for future acquisitions

i used to have faith in mbsb, been their investor since 2011 when news first started coming out about becoming a standalone bank. Yet 5 years later, there's yet another rights issue...never ending squeezing of loyal shareholders

My advice is to stay away from mbsb until all this nonsense finishes, only go back in once they're stable again (which they will be so long epf still support)

Desa, i agree with you when u say no precedent. But how do you get the 2 years figure? Need to be careful not to pluck from thin air

speakup, if you vote Yes and QA is on, its true that there is no more cash value cushion to hold up the price. However the company now has assets which they claim will raise the NTA to 0.38/share. It's true that falling oil prices might drop this down further, but it's also true that the immediate oil income can prop things up. This will then be just like any other O&G counter out there, being open to the same risks of the O&G market. I don't know enough financial modelling to do the math accurately la, sorry.

If you vote yes, and yet the QA fails, then the cash value cushion is still there for all those who supported the QA. No difference to how it is right now.

This actually feels like the Prisoners Dilemma (google it) - do you vote no and run with your meagre returns, causing the QA to fail and giving equally meagre returns to those that voted yes? Or do you all vote yes to achieve QA and both enjoy potentially greater returns together.

Your money, your choice indeed bro. But to me, my downside is limited while the upside potential is quite high

putting aside the news on EV rise (which I believe will happen globally but definitely super slow in msia), the clear indicator that oil price will stay low in the short & medium-term is the size of the current stockpiles.

I rmbr reading an article recently (can't locate the link back, maybe others can help) which said the current stockpiles are actually enough for a few years usage. Meaning even with total stop of production, the stock drawdown will take years.

If so, basic econ rule la, oversupply = low prices

So my opinion is export counters are fine in the medium term (low oil = weak RM = counters that earn in foreign currency will earn like crazy).

Otherwise you should go for industries that drink o&g like nobody's business:
-airlines - one flight from KL to London drinks more fuel than a regular joe car does in many many years
-power generation - only if gas fired
-plastic manufacturers

what do you guys think?
