If this trend continue, I would be dare to conclude that AA is in fact not making too much profit, but just merely good in playing stratergy. The next upcoming trend largely depends on the what they gained from Q1 promo

AA have been really good in playing their game: "low fare promotion", this helps them to gain the profit much earlier before they deliver the service. AA have been showing a some desperation by extending their promotional flight from 3 months to 6 months and now even more 1 year, allowing them to have the liquidity for up to a year in advance.

AA had surged alot since march and the Q4 2015 report must have played a big part to this trend.
