Reference is made to Bursa Securities’ letter dated 3 October 2023 in relation to the article appearing in The Edge titled “RM1.15 bil Boustead-KLK deal falls through, say sources; govt seeks RM2 bil to ‘save’ LTAT”.



After due and diligent enquiry with all the directors, major shareholders and all such other person reasonably familiar with the matters about which the disclosure is to be made in this respect, the Board of BPlant wishes to announce that the controlling shareholders of the Company, BHB and LTAT, have informed the Company that the:



(i) The Proposed Strategic Collaboration is pending a final decision between the transacting parties.

(ii) The Cut-Off Date for fulfilling the Condition Precedent is on 6 October 2023.

KUALA LUMPUR (Oct 2): Proprietary day trading (PDT) and intraday short selling (IDSS) of Boustead Plantations Bhd shares have been suspended for the rest of Monday after their last done price fell by more than 15 sen or 15% of the reference price.

"Short selling under IDSS will only be activated the following trading day, Tuesday, Oct 3, 2023, at 8.30am," said Bursa Malaysia in a filing on Monday.

At the time of writing, the stock was down 14.38% or 21 sen to RM1.25, with 1.42 million shares traded. It had earlier fallen to a low of RM1.23.

In a report following a visit to the LSS4 project in Bidor, Perak, MIDF Research said it came out feeling affirmed of the group’s prospects as it believes returns could be quite attractive.

PETALING JAYA: Ranhill Holdings Bhd’s large-scale solar (LSS4) project is on track for completion by year-end and expected to give it “relatively attractive project returns” because of low capital expenditure (capex) and a comparatively higher tariff.

Ranhill, via wholly-owned Ranhill Solar 1 Sdn Bhd (RS1), was awarded a 50 megawatt (MW) project under the LSS4 bidding cycle back in 2021. A 21-year power purchase agreement was originally signed with Tenaga Nasional Bhd but was later extended to 25 years in line with the Energy Commission’s decision, following cost escalation across the industry during the construction period.

Research outfit Arizton Advisory reckons that Malaysia’s data centre market size will reach revenues of a massive US$1.4bil (RM5.8bil) by 2026.

The state of Johor is becoming one hotspot. Microsoft and GDS are among those building new HDCs there. (See Table 1)An industry player recently told StarBizWeek that 10 global players are now looking to set up HDCs in Johor.

Johor appeals to some large tech players already in Singapore because of the availability of high data speed connections between Johor and Singapore. Lower cost is another obvious reason.

“A number of big firms are scanning Johor to build HDCs on the back of availability of electricity at a cheaper price compared with Singapore. Lower land cost is another advantage,” he says.

But it is not just Johor that is lighting up the HDC space in Malaysia.

Question : Can Ranhill capitalize on this HDC demand (Hyperscale Data Centre) to be built in Johor as HDC consumes large volume of water and electricity to run for cooling systems??

SINGAPORE: The completion of five Build-to-Order (BTO) residential projects will be delayed due to "financial difficulties" faced by its main contractors, the Housing and Development Board (HDB) said on Thursday (Aug 26).

Greatearth Corp and Greatearth Construction informed HDB that they ran into financial difficulties and are unable to complete the projects despite government assistance.

KUALA LUMPUR (Aug 21): Malakoff Corp Bhd reported a 27% drop in second quarter net profit from a year earlier as revenue fell after its gas-fired power plants generated less electricity.

In a statement to the exchange today, Malakoff said profit also fell as the group's bottom line a year earlier included fair valuation gains from the acquisition of the remaining 75% stake in Port Dickson Power (PDP).

For the quarter in review, Malakoff said net profit declined to RM86.29 million in the second quarter ended June 30, 2015 (2QFY15) from RM118.08 million. Revenue dropped to RM1.3 billion from RM1.47 billion.

"This (profit drop) was mainly due to recognition of fair valuation gains from our acquisition of the remaining 75% equity in PDP in corresponding quarter, share of losses recorded by an associated company, which was partly offset by lower finance cost following the redemption of the unrated junior sukuk musharakah from initial public offering (IPO) proceeds in the current quarter," Malakoff said.

Malakoff said revenue fell on "lower capacity factor" at its gas-fired power plants.

Cumulative 1HFY15 net profit, however, rose to RM190.2 million from RM120.73 million a year earlier. Revenue was lower at RM2.64 billion compared to RM2.7 billion.

Looking ahead, Malakoff expects its FY15 financials to improve compared to the preceding year.
