U Mobile aims to improve market share

U Mobile Sdn Bhd aims to increase its mobile market share to 10 per cent by year-end, said its director of marketing, Jasmine Lee.

U Mobile, currently holds a market share of between five to six per cent.

"Growth will mainly be driven by prepaid and mobile data," she told to reporters at a media briefing today.

She also said the company would focus on three key pillars as part of its marketing strategy going forward.

"The first is, affordable connectivity, which we will continue to provide while looking at the market price points.

"The second pillar is customer rewards and the third, smart
partnership. We are starting a lot of smart partnerships with key players in the market," she added.

U Mobile also announced today its partnership with KakaoTalk and WeChat, the two most popular messaging applications in the market.

U Mobile is the first player in the local industry to partner KakaoTalk and WeChat, which provides more options for users to stay connected.

Lee said KakaoTalk is the biggest Korean mobile messaging and social media provider, among 90 per cent of smartphone users in the country.

"WeChat is currently the foremost mobile messaging partner and mobile messaging service in Malaysia, covering 70 per cent of the market," she added.

With this partnership, U Mobile prepaid users who are on the Unlimited Mobile Internet (UMI) packages, can enjoy free data for KakaoTalk and WeChat, which enables them to stay connected with friends and family through the messaging services.

U Mobile also launched today,UMI 38, a new variation to its
popular UMI prepaid plan.

The UMI 38 is a new unlimited mobile Internet package targeted at smartphone subscribers who are frequent callers.

Subscribers can enjoy 200 minutes of free calls, 30 free SMS' and 500MB of high speed 3G mobile internet at RM38 with a 30-day validity period.-- Bernama

Their connection is good but virtue of their small customer base but they forgot about their customer service. Had a very bad experience with them. Help is almost non existence when u needed it.

Anything from vincent tan is think them first before they think about you. anyway, the performance of the broadband dropping. maybe because of the grow customers and their bandwidth not sufficient. I never like a BN crony at work.

Yes agree totally. Even the Govt. Dept operates more efficiently than U mobile. Like that how to grow big. I certainly wont recommend anyone to u their network.
