SunCon's subsidiary secures RM218.76 million contract from GBS Suria

KUALA LUMPUR: Sunway Construction Group Bhd's (SunCon) wholly-owned subsidiary, Sunway Construction Sdn Bhd (SCSB), has accepted a letter of award issued by GBS Suria Sdn Bhd (GBS Suria) for a contract worth RM218.76 million.

In a filing with Bursa Malaysia today, SunCon said the contract comprised of design and engineering, procurement, construction and commissioning (EPCC) works for solar photovoltaic energy generating facility with a generating capacity of 50 megawatts (MW) located in Kampar, Perak.

It said the EPCC works included a new 132 kilovolts (kV) substation and associated facilities as well as related works at the Tenaga Nasional Bhd (TNB) Interconnection Facility.

"The EPCC works are to be commenced immediately on Jan 17, 2023 and the duration for the completion of the EPCC works by SCSB is 20 months from the commencement date," it said.

It added that the contract is not expected to have any immediate material impact on the earnings per share, net assets per share and gearing of SunCon for the financial year ending Dec 31, 2023.
