Datuk How was made a Partner of Ernst & Young, Malaysia in 1984 and served as Partner-in-charge of its offices in Sabah and Sarawak. From 1996 onwards, Datuk How was Partner-in-charge of the Firm's practice in Sabah and Labuan until his retirement at the end of 2003.
