He is a Fellow member of The Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales, The Association of Chartered Certified Accountants and a member of the Institute of Certified Public Accountants of Singapore and the Malaysian Institute of Accountants. He is also a Council Member of the Malaysian Institute of Certified Public Accountants and presently serves as a member of its executive committee.

He has many years of working experience in the fields of accounting, audit, treasury and financial management. He started his career in London in 1973 and worked for more than five years in chartered accounting firms in London including two years with Moore Stephens & Co. Subsequently, he was with Price Waterhouse, Singapore from 1979 to 1982. From 1983 to 1986, he served as Group Finance Manager in UMW Holdings Berhad and Group Treasurer in Edaran Otomobil Nasional Bhd. He joined Berjaya Group of Companies in 1987 until his retirement as Executive Director on 30 November 2007.
