The Ministry of Education has announced that beginning 2017, preschools and nurseries are to hire only teachers who hold at least a diploma. This is aimed at ensuring the quality of childcare centres. However, there have been concerns about the viability of this requirement and its implications for childcare costs. We discuss how this new requirement might affect the childcare industry, teachers, parents and kids.
