Sun Life Malaysia describes itself as a leader in bancassurance. Yet, a 2016 Bloomberg Gadfly article criticizes the model, saying it "comes closest to fitting Einstein's theory of insanity" and is a "sorry experiment". Raymond explains bancassurance's role in helping Malaysia achieve Bank Negara's target of a 75 percent insurance penetration rate by 2020.
