While the saying "As January goes, so goes the year" may not be 100% true, the table shows that only 30% of the time these markets would register gains by the end of the year.
In the case of 2003, DJIA had a -2% February before moving higher as the year closed. It was the same for 1935 whereas in 1942, the market didn't find a bottom until April. In summary...we may not see a market low yet this February.
