Looking back the history of DJIA, below are the years where DJIA showed a first week gain that subsequently faltered by the end of January...Let's see how the rest of the year fared eventually.

While the saying "As January goes, so goes the year" may not be 100% true, the table shows that only 30% of the time these markets would register gains by the end of the year.
In the case of 2003, DJIA had a -2% February before moving higher as the year closed. It was the same for 1935 whereas in 1942, the market didn't find a bottom until April. In summary...we may not see a market low yet this February.
