Allianz Malaysia says chairman Rafiah Salim intends to retire

KUALA LUMPUR (April 28): Allianz Malaysia Bhd said on Thursday that the insurance company's chairman Tan Sri Dr Rafiah Salim has expressed her intention to retire at the conclusion of the firm's 48th annual general meeting (AGM) after serving the group's board of directors for almost 10 years.

As such, Rafiah will not seek re-election as chairman at Allianz Malaysia's AGM, according to the company's Bursa Malaysia filing.

"She will be succeeded by Zakri Mohd Khir, the non-independent non-executive director of the company (Allianz Malaysia), as the new chairman of the board," Allianz Malaysia said.

In a separate Bursa filing on Thursday, Allianz Malaysia said the company's AGM will held virtually on June 22, 2022 at 11am.

According to Allianz Malaysia’s latest 2020 annual report, Rafiah was appointed chairman of the company on November 23, 2012.

At Bursa on Thursday (April 28), Allianz Malaysia's share price closed up eight sen or 0.63% at RM12.72 for a market capitalisation of about RM2.26 billion based on the company's 177.33 million outstanding shares.
