US-based fashion house Coach is set to launch its first ever Coach Play experience in Kuala Lumpur at the A Place Where (APW) in Bangsar by the end of September.

KUALA LUMPUR (Aug 14): Coach, a US-based fashion house specialising in bags, is set to launch its first ever Coach Play experience in Kuala Lumpur in collaboration with A Place Where (APW) located in Bangsar by the end of September this year.

This confirms a report by The Edge weekly, published for the week of July 1-7, which revealed that Coach had partnered with APW, an event and retail space in Bangsar, to establish this store — the first of its kind in Southeast Asia.

In its announcement, Coach did not disclose about the total investment in Coach APW and the size of the space. It is also unclear whether Coach and APW will collaborate further as brands or if there is more to the project. “More details will follow,” the statement wrote.

“Visitors will be able to shop the latest Coach collections, including Coachtopia, the house’s circularity-focused sub-brand, throughout the store. The space will also feature a station for screen printing custom T-shirts and totes, as well as The Coach Coffee Shop serving handcrafted drinks and sweet treats,” said Coach in a statement on Wednesday.

Sources cited in The Edge weekly's report suggest that the investment in Coach APW could reach millions of ringgit, with the space expected to cover 7,500 to 8,500 sq ft, or possibly more.

In April, the brand launched its first Coach Play in Ipoh, an immersive concept store at Silverlakes Village Outlet. The Coach Play Ipoh concept store spans more than 2,516 sq ft and was inspired by a summer camp landscape. The store also introduced the first Coach Coffee Shop in Malaysia.

APW is a 65,000 sq ft creative and retail hub that was originally a commercial printing factory known as Art Printing Works Sdn Bhd that was established in 1952 and located in Lebuh Ampang prior to its relocation to Bangsar in 1965.
