Zoom and LinkedIn have joined the growing list of tech companies to suspend compliance with data requests from the Hong Kong government, citing concerns over a sweeping new national security law.

Google, Twitter, WhatsApp, Facebook, and Telegram have also suspended cooperation with the Hong Kong authorities since the law was enacted last week.

A Zoom spokesperson said that the company would actively monitor the situation "including any potential guidance from the US government", the Hong Kong Free Press reported on July 7.

In an email exchange shared on Twitter, a LinkedIn communication employee told Hong Kong journalist Mary Hui that the company had paused exchanges with Hong Kong law enforcement while "reviewing the new law".

Under the law authorities can request a "relevant service provider to provide the identification record or decryption assistance as the case requires".
