On Aug 27, at the next Gamescom event, Ford will unveil the results of its P1 project, the company's first car that has been conceptualised directly in collaboration with gamers.

Almost exactly one year ago, Ford was making headlines with its announcement - also made at the Gamescom video game trade fair - that it was launching its own esports team Fordzilla, the first car manufacturer to do so. This year it's the official presentation of its P1 project that is sure to create buzz.

This sportscar was designed through an unprecedented collaboration between Ford's team of designers and a community of gaming Ford fans. In a process carried out through social networks, they were able to actively take part in the development of the car, notably by voting during the various stages of its design for their preferred aesthetic and technical choices.

While automotive companies have frequently worked on models designed specifically for video games, involving players directly in the creation process as Ford has done is a first.

Due to the coronavirus pandemic, the Gamescom event will be held entirely online this year. Ford's announcement can be followed live on the event's website (gamescom.global) on Aug 27 from 7:30pm, local time in Cologne, Germany (Aug 28, 1:30am, Malaysia).
