For some video game fans, music is often nearly as important as the gameplay itself. Aware of this, Japanese entertainment giant Nintendo has just unveiled a new initiative that will delight those who love pixelated tunes: Nintendo Music.
The app, available on iOS and Android, lets fans enjoy the iconic melodies of their favourite franchises.
When you think of Super Mario, it’s hard not to hear the video game’s famous music in your head. From now on, gaming enthusiasts will be able to listen non-stop to the songs that defined the colourful animated adventures of their childhoods.
Nintendo has announced the launch of its Nintendo Music app, offering unlimited access to a vast collection of soundtracks from cult games such as Super Mario Bros, The Legend Of Zelda, Kirby, Pikmin, Animal Crossing, Metroid, Splatoon 3, Donkey Kong Country and many more.
Only Switch Online (and Switch Online + Expansion Pack) subscribers in the US and Canada can take advantage of this new feature at no extra cost. Individual subscriptions start at US$3.99 for a month or US$19.99 for the year.
The application is also available in other countries and regions.
Users can select titles for uninterrupted listening of 15, 30 or 60 minutes.
The creation of playlists is also supported, with the option of filtering tracks by game, and even by character. The app will allow you to share your own playlists with other equally nostalgic users.
Listeners will also be served up personalised recommendations based on their activity on the platform.
