Gold prices held steady early on Thursday as the dollar firmed after upbeat U.S. economic data bolstered the prospects of interest rate increases next month and beyond.
 
Spot gold was nearly unchanged at $1,278.06 per ounce at 1255 GMT. On Wednesday, gold touched a session high of $1289.09, a peak since Oct. 20, before paring gains and ending the session about 0.2 percent lower due to a stronger dollar.

HSI Futures

 

U.S. stocks fell on Wednesday as energy sector shares dropped for a fourth straight session, tracking crude oil prices, while tech, the best performing sector this year, weighed the most on the S&P 500.

 

Hong Kong stocks followed other Asian markets lower, dragged down by resources and industrial firms, amid worries over China’s economic growth after sluggish economic data.

FKLI finally broke 1730's level yesterday in the afternoon session and further dipping to 1715 before closed at 1716.5. Sellers are now lured in to further pressure the market to the downside, and hopefully to create another new low since March 2017.

FCPO attempted a rebound to 2735 before the seller slipped in, depressing the market back to 2710's. Dalian and soybean oil are mixed today while Ringgit strengthen against the greenback at RM4.17.
